Post Show?

Well, that also depends on what kind of post show and gift shop we are looking at for Soarin. There is a lot of room if they are planning on using it all, we could get a nice post show that would attract a lot of guests...and, of course, you would have to pass through the large giftshop to reach it lol. Of course, if they hurry up with the Nemo work in the Living Seas and have it done by next spring, people could go there while they wait for their Soarin' FP :)

I haven't heard anything of a post show, and if it remains like DCA, the "post show" is walking up a stark concrete ramp.

They removed the entire Food Rocks theatre and preshow area for more than a gift shop...there will be something in all that space, we just don't know what.

How is GE and DuPont the competition? Do they have holdings in other companies - GE used to be a sponsor!

I think the exhibit could hold some potential if the did it right. If it is just a couple of boards up there with "plastics are good" messages then I don't think it will go over well. But I do think that they could potentially do some stuff studing how plastics are made, what makes something a plastic, and get people more involved in uderstanding what plastics are. Does anyone remember those old plastic casting machines they had a museumes - they had the injected plastic molds and you could create your own dinosaur or animal?

Another member said GE is the competition of WDW as GE owns Universal.

SPI LAUNCHES PLASTICS SHOWCASE AT INNOVENTIONS AT EPCOT®

WASHINGTON, DC (January 28, 2004) - The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc. (SPI) recently unveiled plans for its "Fantastic Plastics Works" showcase at INNOVENTIONS at Epcot® at the Walt Disney World® Resort in Lake Buena Vista, FL.

The ceremony took place on January 15, during an event held in conjunction with the association's January 2004 Executive Board meeting. The event was held in INNOVENTIONS East, one of two buildings at Epcot® that house exhibits designed to help guests discover the latest in science and technology. INNOVENTIONS is an interactive playground that allows guests to experience innovations in science and technology that will impact their lives in a positive way.

Scheduled to open in the summer of 2004, SPI's approximately 5,000-sq.-ft. exhibit will showcase the full scope of the plastics industry, from imagination and design to manufacturing and products, said SPI Chief Communications Officer Bonnie Merrill Limbach. Anchored by SPI members DuPont and GE Plastics and supported by contributions from those companies and other participants, the exhibit seeks to improve the public's understanding - and appreciation - of the plastics industry and also encourage youngsters to consider careers in it, Limbach explained.

"It was a tremendously exciting day for SPI, its membership and the plastics industry," she said, "a day that will be surpassed only when the showcase opens to INNOVENTIONS visitors at Epcot®. At that time, we know INNOVENTIONS guests will share that excitement, as they discover the broad and positive impact plastics have on their lives."

At the Thursday ceremony, SPI governance group members, staff and guests reviewed architectural plans for the colorful, interactive exhibit and learned more about elements of the multi-dimensional showcase.

SPI also used the ceremony to thank its growing list of exhibit sponsors. In addition to GE Plastics and DuPont, they include: Daikin America; Plastics News; Bemis Manufacturing Company; Thermalcare; Ampacet; Intralox, Inc.; Demag Plastics Group; RBK Tool & Die, Inc.; The Conair Group, Inc.; United Southern Industries; Bekum America Corporation; the SPI Machinery Division; the SPI Molders Division; the SPI Moldmakers Division; ISO Poly Films, Inc.; SPI West; Novatec, Inc.; Steinwall Inc.; Jatco, Inc.; Prestige Mold, Inc.; SuperFos Packaging, Inc.; Mid South Extrusion, Inc.; Coeur, Inc.; Leistritz Extruder Corp., and UPM, Inc.

Founded in 1937, The Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc., is the trade association representing one of the largest manufacturing industries in the United States. SPI's members represent the entire plastics industry supply chain, including processors, machinery and equipment manufacturers and raw materials suppliers. The U.S. plastics industry employs 1.5 million workers and provides more than $320 billion in annual shipments. For more information, visit SPI on the Web at www.plasticsindustry.org.

Well now what Innoventions needs is for either Nintendo, Microsoft, or Sony to build a game booth that is really big like the old Sega one. I would prefer if all 3 were to build booths.

Has this been popping into anyone else's head as they read this, or is it just me?

Mr. McGuire: I just want to say one word to you - just one word.
Ben: Yes sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Ben: Yes I am.
Mr. McGuire: 'Plastics.'
Ben: Exactly how do you mean?
Mr. McGuire: There's a great future in plastics. Think about it. Will you think about it?
Ben: Yes I will.
Mr. McGuire: Shh! Enough said. That's a deal.

-Update-

The plastics area "Fantastic Plastics" will be open in the next 2-3 weeks. It is located in section 10 of Innoventions (east), and the parts that can be seen between the gaps in the curtains look neat.
