Thanks Pixar Fest - I'm less and less enthused about visiting the parks for a day next month.

No World of Color. No California Screamin'. No fireworks with a good soundtrack. But at least there will be limited-time snacks featuring all the food coloring!

Take your money and do something else with it. We have an entire thread for things to do in Southern California. Lots of options.

Pixar Fest doesn’t scream interesting and fun to me.

It's only 12 minutes. That's disappointing. The Fireworks themselves aren't all that impressive, neither is the music. I'll wait to go back until RDCT comes back.

I wouldn’t be going if not for an East Coast visitor who wants to check out DL for a day. And we’re using tickets that were given to us by a CM.

I guess my visitor won’t know better, but it makes me sad that her impression will be marred by Pixar Fest. Not only does the event not scream interesting and fun; it’s literally worse than the parks operating normally. That’s not even considering the tacky banners we’ll see plastered everywhere promoting it.

I don't mind Disney trying to promote itself or its products. But please leave those promotions off of the buildings and entrances into the Happiest Place On Earth! Those colors are terrible, and the signage in front of the train station breaks my heart - I love the entrance to the parks.

I honestly wonder how long it's going to take for me to give up on Disneyland. What will be the breaking point for me that I just give up all interest in the park? I've already done so with DCA when they removed TOT, so what could it be with Disneyland? The complete dismantling of POTC? Replacing the Haunted Mansion with a Gambit attraction? Destroying Sleeping Beauty Castle entirely? Who knows, but Pixar Fest, as pathetic as it is, isn't egregious enough for me to not visit at all.

Why does Pizza Planet say "A Better Place"? What does that mean?
Double meaning, I think. It's both a line from Toy Story when the aliens are picked by the claw they go to "a better place" but also I think it's Disney acknowledging that Pizza Port had awful food so this is "a better place" than Pizza Port (although that has yet to be seen).

Astonishing how Walt Disney Imagineering continues to mismanage Pixar assets. Given the concept of Pixar Pier and what Pixar Fest has thus far been delivered, it's a wonder how Monsters Inc. Ride and Go Seek and Cars Land exist.

And while I stated that they should take the bulk of the blame, I must concede that perhaps it's not just entirely on them. It's not that WDI is bad, it's their budgets, their arbitrary executive directed IP-infused mandates, ridiculously accelerated production schedules & most importantly corporate's restriction on WDI's content creation abilities that's to blame.

It's unfortunate because it wasn't always like this.

It goes without saying that each fan's experience with Disneyland is personal, and therefore different. However, I think there's a middle ground where we can engage with the parks, accept that we have little control over their business objectives, and avoid obsessing over every perceived misstep. May I suggest dialing back your mania a bit and looking for more balance?

I know, I need to heed my own advice. :)

I’ve decided to let my AP lapse starting next year. I’m not here for Star Wars Land, Pixar Fest, Pixar Pier, Marvel Land, and whatever other stuff Disney’s got planned. I’ve been disappointed, and so I will be spending my money elsewhere. I will be using my money to travel more, both nationally and internationally. I’m looking forward to saving that money for other things.

I still love Disneyland, but I’m over the current management and decisions being made.

Part of me wonders how much of Lasseter's influence is what got Pixar its foot in the parks at all. It surely got Carsland built. Without his creative influence, I think we're seeing the best of what WDI can think to do with Pixar.

Unless I'm outright forced to participate in something (which I doubt will ever happen), I plan to avoid all aspects of Pixar Fest when I'm at the park. I don't care much for parades and standing in that huge hornet's nest of a crowd for fireworks is something I can gladly do without.

Disneyland is what you make of it. As long as it still has its classics, places you can go to forget about all the stresses of the real world, and inspires me creatively, I'll keep going.

Kevin Rafferty contributed far more to the vision and execution of Cars Land than Lasseter did from what I understand. Although without Lasseter, we never would have had the triumphant, overly successful return of the flying saucers. /s

Didn't the published menu say it's basically the same stuff?

That's surprising considering Cars is Lasseter's baby.

Just when you thought reality couldn't possibly be as bad as the concept art...

It's interesting that they could afford new tables, but couldn't be bothered to make a sign big enough to cover the old one
