Pirates Bazaar to go down for a remodel

According to several of the cast members who work at the Pirates Bazaar, the gift shop you enter into after exiting Pirates of the Caribbean, will be closed a month or two before Pirates reopens. At this time, their best guess is that the gift shop will see a revised floor plan in order to ease guest flow from the updated attraction.

Anyone who has ever rode Pirates of the Caribbean in Florida on a peak day will tell you how crowded the Bazaar can be. I honestly feel like it's probably the worst choke point from a ride to a shop - what with the toy guns, swords, rocks, and small aisles to navigate.

They do seem to have some new t-shirts featuring some really interesting artwork. I picked up one of the new Jack Sparrow white t-shirts with squid tenticles. It has Pirates of the Caribbean on the back lower most portion of the shirt.

Yeh it does get extremely crowded in that area, but God I loved the little stoe off to the right as soon as you exit! Is that store still open? I think it was closed last time I was there 3 years ago, but can't recall!

I think the little store off to the right has been closed for some time now.

Hopefully the Pirate Bazaar floor plan will open things up a bit to help crowd control without dramatically changing the merchandise.

That store is the best "merchandise trap" of all of them!

I've always gotten trapped in the Tattoine Traders. That walkway from the simulators can get really bottlenecked. :brick:

Does anyone know if it's open right now, or if it'll reopen during the April rehab hiatus? I've got some X-mas shopping to do! Pirates stuff isn't that easy to come by...

Yeah, ya know you just haven't lived until you've been cracked in the kneecaps by a 4 year old with a wooden rifle.

Really gets the blood flowin. :D

Glad to hear about the remodel though...

I agree that Tatooine Traders is the second worst...actually, they are both tied for THE WORST...

Just an idea....why not have a wide (10+ feet wide, if possible), clearly marked walk way, straight from the exit to the open areas, splitting the gift shop in two. On one side, have the pirates merchandise. On the other side, have the non-PoC merchandise and the meet & greet. For the walkway out of the ride, it could have wooden masts (running from floor to ceiling every 7-10 feet), cross members and sails overhead and wood plank flooring, to seperate it from the archs and stone flooring of the current gift shop area.

This might help keep a path clear for people leaving the ride and people in the gift shop, but not in a way that would keep people from entering or leaving th e path.

Dunno if it can be done in the current space, but would be cool....:zipit:

Not a bad idea, but I could see merchandise encroaching into the walkway so as to grab you into the shop areas. I know Disney likes to have you exit a ride into a gift shop so that you will buy something. I can see them creasting a wider path, perhaps even a winding wide path while clearly maintaining merchandise in easy sight distance.

Well, it would still be an open area, except poles running from the ground to the ceiling every few feet, but it would still be oepn and basically one continuous space. Dunno, maybe I've though about this too much.......hmmmm:veryconfu

Two of my roomates are cast memebers that work in the pirates gift shop. they are now currently workign in other locations becuase Pirates gift shop will be closing very soon. it is getting a major rehab as well. since the final treasure scene in the ride is being removed the gift shop will be transformed into the treasure room. and the area will also be made to feature a meet and greet for none other than Captain Jack Sparrow.
