Pirates and Pals Dessert cruise

We have reservations on the Pirates and Pals desert cruise on May 31. It says it begins at 8. What time do we need to be at the Contemporary? I've read that before the actual cruise there are things to do there, so we wanted to make sure we got there early enough to do everything we can do! Thanks!
