I found lots of pictures from my very first vacation to WDW in June of 1989. I remember this trip like yesterday and even though I've been there six more times since, I still have fond memories of this trip that I even still think about every time I visit the parks.

Let us begin shall we. These are the first batch of pictures from the Magic Kingdom:

Mickey's Birthday Party - I clearly remember this show! The song goes through my head very often!

The afternoon parade. Looks like Mickey's Birthdayland was promoted in a section of it. I think the castle float is still in use today. I remember those other floats but wheither they are in storage today is yet to be known.

Some Adventureland pix. Not too much change here (except Aladdin's Magic Carpets) for the most part.

The two of us again on Dumbo. When I either ride or see these two rides, I do think of both of these moments from this trip. These are just a few of the small things that I will always remember from my first WDW experience!

The "classic" Dumbo from afar. Also note the Skyway.

Me sitting in front of one of the Birthdayland fecades that really looked so "temporary".

The best part of this update is about to come in a few min. Stay tuned!

With Summer Nightastic just around the corner, I thought it would be appropriate to conclude the Magic Kingdom chapter of this update with what else, the 1989 edition of the Main Street Electrical Parade!

And one final nighttime view of Main Steet:

The second part of this update will include Epcot Center pics. Following that update as part of part three will include misc pics such as characters and the Disney Village which will be scanned and uploaded when time permits me. I hope you'll enjoy this nastolgic look at classic Disney as we once knew it. Enjoy!

I remember that mickey stage show! Cool! I was about 5 at that time. lol. but I remember that.

Also noticed that mirror float from the parade. It's now used in the Dreams come true parade. I wonder how long do they hold onto these floats before deciding they wont get used again?

I love looking at the older Disney pics! Not only is it fun, to me, to see the way the parks have changed so much but I also like seeing how much the people have changed. Fashions have changed so much since then! Even the way the characters are dressed and how the character heads are designed. But:lookaroun I am still in awe on the new character heads that blink and "talk" lol.:p

Nice pics. Going by the poses and year the stage show was Best of Disney. The stage was revamped for the following year, but still had a live band (!)

Guess one of the floats is still in action, this was taken in 2006. By the way, I cannot place where your pics are on the bridge, please tell me! Thanks for your pics!

That's exactly how old I was when these pics were taken! I would've turned six in August!

Thanks for posting the pic. I thought I remember seeing that float somewhere on my most recent trip in 2007. I'm assuming it's still being used for "Celebrate a Dream Come True". I think that may be the Liberty Square bridge off the hub if I'm correct. Looks like we may have taken the pic from the hub itself as the parade was crossing from Liberty Square.

Strangely enough, the new Mickey meet-and-greet will be a similar theme.

So they're doing something similar at the Exposition Hall? Where did you find out this info? It would definitely be nastolgic to alot of people who remember back to that pic I posted.

Thank you for the pics!

My family's first trip to the MK was June 1988. This is pretty much how I remember things.

During the birthday show, the oven would explode and the entire theatre would be filled with smoke. I have a vivid memory of the smoke tasting odd. When you inhaled it would hit the back of the throat and make a sweet flavor. Years later while baking (with more dropping than explosion) I discovered that "odd" flavor was powdered sugar.

Looking forward to you EPCOT pics. Our first trip to EPCOT Center was June 1989. We might have passed each other. :)

It will be similar but I can't tell you where I got the info. :animwink:
