Pete's Dragon remake?

Ain't it cool news post a weird little story about a remake in the works for Pete's Dragon. It's a lesser favorite of mine from 70's, but I do like (and own) it. Has anyone else heard about this?

LOVE Pete's Dragon, and really don't see why a remake is necessary. Great cast, great music...leave it alone!

I can definitely see why they would remake this! Dragons are big right now in Hollywood! I loved the movie as a kid, and I think a remake could be good if done properly...

Loved the movie, but would prefer a stage adaptation to a remake. Although I'm a bit tired of remakes in general.

Pete's Dragon is perfect in all it's wonderful 70's glory and should NOT be touched IMO.
