Personalized Disney Shirts?

Has anyone ordered the personalized shirts from the Disney Store? I wanted to order something for our upcoming trip – not matching “Family Vacation 2012” shirts, but more like something with just a different character on each one (characters that can’t typically be found on shirts), and maybe our name or a fun quote on the back. I started customizing one on the site, but I wasn’t sure how they would actually turn out.

I also saw a cute idea on Pinterest where someone used iron-on transfers of character silhouettes, and put a quote under them. I thought they looked great, but quite frankly, I don’t have time for a major craft project right now. The next 3 weeks are slam-packed. Does anyone have any suggestions for other sites that you have used? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

We are doing something similar to what you're suggesting...or at least that's the plan. Each of us are getting a shirt w/our favorite character in the same style (probably the ringer tees)...we will have a matching trip name regarding DD3's 4th bday, I want nicknames on the backs of the shirts, and maybe a saying specific to our individual characters.

I'd seen some things on Etsy, but nothing was exactly what I wanted. Plus, I don't know if I'm going to be able to mess around with iron ons since I'll only have 9 days to work on them (trip is a surprise and the girls won't know a thing until that point).

i have and love them. i recommend waiting and going to the store that does them at downtown Disney. they have alot more offerings and designs specific for Disney world :)

Do you know how long it takes for them to get everything done? i.e. if we ordered them on our first night with our customized characters and wording for the shirts, do you think they'd be ready by the next day?

yes. usually they are done in seconds. depends on the crowds and how much customization is done.

Sweet! That is now one thing I don't have to do in advance! You just saved me so much time, guesswork, and probably shipping! Do you by any chance remember the store name/location? We are having dinner at T-Rex on our DTD night. Thanks!!! :)

When we first arrive at WDW and after we get checked in, we head to the Disney Design-a-Tee store in Downtown Disney. This store allows you to make custom t-shirts with Disney characters and printed sayings on them. This may allow you to do exactly what you are looking for; similiar print on each shirt but with a different character. The shirts take just a few minutes to design and are usually completed within 10-15 minutes depending on how busy they are. Good luck.

We ordered our shirts as you decribed from the Design a Tee store online adn had no issues. We did this for our trip last year. Everyone got to choose their favortie character and we had a saying printed along with the month and year we went. The only problem I found out is you could not get anything printed on the back. They only print on one side. I actually called and talked to someone at the store about this to confirm.

I shopped the Disney Store online, but had terrible trouble finding a design I could put on matching shirts ranging from small kid sizes to large adult sizes, and frankly, I wasn't that excited about most of the designs anyway.

I ended up ordering customized iron-ons from "Miss Morgan" on etsy and I was very pleased with the quality. (They came with everything I needed to apply them, along with an online tutorial that I could follow). I think I paid something like $24 for four iron-ons (each with our name in the Disney font, Mickey/Minnie ear silhouette, and customized multi-colored hat), and I put them on four identical ringer T-shirts from Old Navy, which I'd bought on sale for $30. My total cost was $54 ($13.50 per shirt), and doing the iron-ons took less than an hour.

Here's a link to Miss Morgan's site. http://www.etsy.com/shop/MissMorgan She's currently "on vacation," but if you were interested and in a hurry, there are several other etsy designers who do similar work, all of which can be customized to your taste.

You can also go to a site like Zazzle directly to create your own. Ironivcally that is where the personalized shirts from the Disney store are generated from.

Thank you, thank you!! I've found another seller that does this, since Miss Morgan is on vacation, and I am placing an order today! Still deciding which ones to get, though - pirate Mickey's with our names on them, or the Star Wars vinylmations (also with our names). Tough call! :)

I didn't see this post when I made mine! So sorry for the double post!!

We did the iron on shirts for my boys. They were VERY simple to do! :D It took me maybe an evening to do 12 tshirts (1 shirt per child per 4 days). And they came out fantastic. The boys still wear them...LOL

I'm doing a surprise trip too for New Years. How old are your kids and how are you doing the surprise if you don't mind me asking?
