Payment options

Hi all!
My boyfriend and I are trying to learn more about the payment options for a DW package. We plan to do 6 days at the parks, stay 7 nights and leave the morning of the 7th day, we will be staying at one of the value resorts and will be using the disney dining plus plan. Our total Im guessing, before plane tickets, will be about 2,000 or so. So I am just wondering what is the best way to go about paying for this! We are planning for Jan 3rd-9th 2014 so we will have plenty of time to save and pay. Do we apply for the disney visa? Can we pay in chunks with avoiding the credit card? What way do you prefer to pay?

Hi there and welcome to the boards! I always book 10-12 months out so I can do payments each month until you are 45 days out - at that point your package needs to be paid for...so for example, I just booked my November 24th (6 nights/7days) trip Friday. I put $200 down for room/tickets and will pay a little on it each paycheck until paid off! You can pay using debit/credit/disney gift cards...they don't care as long as it is paid 45 days out :) You can pay $50 one day and $500 the next...again they don't really care. I hope that helps!

If you get the Disney card and use it responsibly it can be awesome. I save up the cash, put it on the card and then pay the card off immediately. This allows you to earn dollars you can use for souvenirs or whatever you like while at Disney. You earn a $1 for every $100 spent so it can help. It may not be worth doing it for $20 a trip, but as a new cardmember they usually offer a special, like a $200 giftcard to Disney or something similar.

As others have said it's flexible. The easiest is to take a little out of yor paycheck each week. If you are going on jan. 3, then 45 days out is nov.19th. That's when your trip needs to be paid off by. You have 39 weeks until then. If you are calculating $2000, dividing that by 39 weeks is a little over $51 a week without plane tickets. So about $26 a week for each of you. Very reasonable. I guess add your plane tickets and see how
Much more you need or you can pay more towards your trip until there are promotions for your air fare. You can buy a Disney gift card every week and use it right away or save it. Maybe put money into a separate account. If you know you are going to spend it call and pay it every week. Maybe if you have any extra funds one week put a little more in case you have unexpected expenses one week down the road.

We put the money in our savings account. We always put it all on the credit card, and then pay it off after our vacation just in case anything goes wrong. It's difficult to get "money back" if you pay by check or cash. At least that's what my dear hubby says!:)

Awesome, thanks!

You can apply for a Disney Visa as you get perks as well as a Disney gift card. If you planned on charging it and don't mind applying for a new card, then you can go that route. Whatever method of payment you use, my DH and I like to pay in installments, make it a monthly bill. That way we know how much we are spending and how much per month as well as how to save for additional spending money.
