payment deadline date

What happens if you simply cannot make your final payment for your trip - Is your trip automatically cancelled? Does Disney let you have an "extension" so to speak?

In 2010 they gave us up until 21 days, after that we had to cancel due to my daughters cheer. We gave up half of the deposit but they gave us that long. Not sure about now.

I am in a panic. I called and talked with a CM today about possibly not being able to make the deadline date and that we needed an extra 5 days to pay it off. Some finances we were relying on fell through and now we do not get the much needed money until the weekend which would be about 4-5 days after our deadline date. The really nice CM told me, "Disney does not give extensions" but then went on to say that they were going to "post" it to our account that we would pay on the day we said. We also proceeded to give them a payment when talking to her but we still have a balance. I am in panic mode big time!!! I don't trust that we can have the extra days. I am thinking about calling back and cancelling our park hoppers just to be able to get to Disney. Just to be there would be enough for me right now. :(

Just reduce the total cost your package by removing a portion and add it back later.
Just don't remove days from your trip, Keep your dates at the Hotel.

Good Luck!

Unless something has recently changed, the 45 day pay off mark is not set in stone. The CM's are instructed to tell you that it is a firm deadline for obvious reasons. I have had clients go as far as 15 days past that 45 day mark without an issue.

My payment was due same day as check in... Though it was a room only reservation. Is that why?

Yes, room only reservations require only a deposit of the first night at booking, with the balance due at check in. MYW packages have to be paid in full at 45 days before check in (although there appears to be some leeway with that).

Okay to follow up - I am out of panic mode. I took the above suggestion of downsizing our trip by doing one less day of park tickets and I was able to pay off my trip. I wasn't about ready to give up on my vacation and not go this year. I can always add the extra park ticket later on. Thank you all for the input and letting me vent. The various people on this board are well informed and just generally nicer than on other boards I have looked at. Now I can be excited and cannot wait to go - only 50 days left for me!
