Welcome to the First & Ever Parallel Projects of Parallel Disney-MGM Studios/Disney's Hollywood Studios. In this project i'm going to show you some ideas for this Third Gate Theme Park & the First ever Working Studios area at the Walt Disney World Resort in Orlando, Florida.

(Concept Art of the Park in 1987 by WDI)

When the Disney-MGM Studios opens it gates on the 1th of May 1989 & spanning about 135 acres of land, guest of all ages discovers imagined worlds from film, television, music, and theatre, drawing inspiration from the Golden Age of Hollywood.

This Project was initially developed as both a theme park inspired by show business and an operating production studio, with active film and television production services, an animation facility branch, and a functioning backlot. Construction on the combined park and studio began in 1987, but was accelerated when the construction of the similarly-themed Universal Studios Florida began a few miles away.

But before we get to the Parallel stuff & bring new ideas for this Studio Park in Florida, we have to go back in travel from 1989 when the park opened & discover some things that are still here from 1989-90.

Central Hub of Disney-MGM Studios
Just like the Magic Kingdom Central Plaza/Hub, The Disney-MGM Version of the Central Plaza/Hub is like a shape of a Mouse & i think we know that lovely character we know to love.

On the Right is the Backlot Tour, On the Left is Lakeside Circle & Backlot Annex & at the far end of Hollywood Boulevard & the Central Hub stands an exact replica of an 1927 Grauman's Chinese Theatre, as the Castle & Icon of the whole Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park & Studio Tour.

5.jpg
mgm 5.jpg

The Great Movie Ride
This icon houses its amazing attraction called The Great Movie Ride, A dark ride paying homage to several classic films like Mary Poppins, Indiana Jones & even The Wizard of OZ & by using an Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV) as a theater based ride that looks like the screen is moving & you're not at the cinemas anymore, this is real.

postcard1989imagineeringmodelofecholake.jpg

Lakeside Circle/Echo Lake
It is the park's small oval-shaped lagoon, which was designed to form one of the ears in the enormous Hidden Mickey from the park's original layout. Surrounding it are numerous attractions and services, some structures are designed to mimic the "California Crazy" form of architecture from Hollywood's Golden Age.

  • Min & Bill's Dockside Diner - Counter-Service Restaurant
  • Tune In Lounge - Lounge/Bar

When Terrorist attacks by the Wahhabi terrorist group Al-Qaeda against the United States on that morning. & two planes crashes into New York City's World Trade Center. thousands or even millions live or die but they never been forgotten on that day.

But now lets stop looking at this 9/11 Disaster & Start looking at excited & great things in the year 2000 for this park as well for the next 10 years.

Welcome to an Working in Progress of an Parallel Disney-MGM Studios/Disney's Hollywood Studios. As in this project we're going to keep some attractions & icons like The Great Movie Ride but called it Great Moments at the Movies, Sunset Boulevard & Tower of Terror, Disney Animation, Star Tours, Backstage Tour, New York Street & others, but also I'm going to add some ideas for this park some scrapped projects, some will replaced & some will still be here & some new lands as a whole theme park, you maybe almost like a copy of Universal Studios Florida but with more rides & attractions in this park.

1992:

Muppet-area-concept-art-Disnerd-23-550x225.jpg

Phase 2 of Muppet Studios
After Phase of the studio with Muppet-Vision 3D & the store in 1991, Instead of an Muppets Dark Ride of The Great Muppet Movie Ride, they still want to think of a restaurant but for a phase 2 expansion of the Muppet Studios between Muppet-Vision & Stage 1 Store. So instead of Mama Melrose's Ristorante Italiano, you'll have the Henson's Revue.

Henson's Revue is a Table-Serve Restaurant & is associated and inspired by Henson's Works from Commercials like Wilkins Coffee & La Choy, to films like The Muppet Movie or The Dark Crystal & Television like The Muppet Show, Fraggle Rock & Sesame Street. The restaurant also featuring a Stage Dining Room where walk-around versions of the Muppets sing & dance just like The Muppet Show, similar like the My Friend Duffy Show & Dinner at Tokyo DisneySEA. and you maybe find some details similar to the scrapped restaurants in this area, The Swedish Chef's Video Cooking School & The Great Gonzo's Pandemonium Pizza Parlor

Also for Phase 2 of the Muppet Studios its a Exhibit based on the History of Jim Henson called The Jim Henson Story: Hosted by Brian Henson. & finally relocated the show from New York to Muppet Studios of Jim Henson's Muppets on Location: Days of Swine and Roses (1991-2000).

1993:

1180w-600h_a-to-z-newsies.jpg

The Newsies are coming to New York
As New York turns from a backlot set & becomes as a whole themed area in 1991/92 season, so as The Newsies. This street show in New York is based on the same named from Disney's 1992 Box Office Bomb Film but a great crew Dancing & Striking down the streets of New York City at the Disney-MGM Studios. A 30 min stage & street show & similar to the 1992 film features songs like The King of New York, Santa Fe, The World Would Know & even Once & for All.

1994:

Disney-MGM Studios 5th Anniversary (1989-1994)

mgm 10.jpg

Sunset Boulevard Phase 1 (July 22, 1994)

The visual focal point of Sunset Boulevard is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. & Added in a Table-Service Restaurant in Sunset Boulevard called The Coconut Club.

1995:

maroon.jpg

Sunset Boulevard Phase 2 - Maroon Studios & Red Car Trolley
An extension Sunset Boulevard of Phase 2 called Maroon Studios based on the 1988 film, Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Would feature a Red Car Trolley line running up the street, dropping guest off at a recreation of Maroon Studios, which would've been featured between Disney Animation Building & the upcoming Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith on Sunset Boulevard in 1999.
Attractions:
  • Roger & Benny's Car-Toon Spin (Dark Ride, different title but basically the same ride as in Disneyland, California)
  • Toontown Talk (Meet & Greet)
Dining:
  • The Ink & Paint Club (Table-Service Restaurant)

Retail:
  • Gag Factory
  • Benny's Service Station (Post Ride at Car-Toon Spin attraction)

1996:

Toontown_transit_sm.jpg

Sunset Boulevard Phase 3 - Roger Rabbit's Toontown Transit Adventure

The Toontown Transit was an ambitious concept for a simulator with a full wraparound screen to present animation on the sides of the vehicle in addition to a main screen, Similar to StormRider at Tokyo DisneySEA & The Lost Temple at Movie Park Germany.

1997:

Disney's Grand Hollywood Resort

This On-Site Hotel is between to the entrance of the park & the brand new Hollywood Hills Amphitheater which it will open in 1998.

Combining stunning Art-Deco architecture with dash Disney magic, Disney’s Grand Hollywood Hotel offers sophisticated accommodations located just near Disney-MGM Studios. You can strike a chord at the piano-shaped outdoor pool, or take a relaxing stroll in the lush garden courtyard. Hotel public areas and inside the park.

1999:

disney-mgm-studios-10th-license-plate_1_b7220b3879dc9969404e999de762f3d9 (1).jpg

Disney-MGM Studios 10th Anniversary (1989-1999)
1999 is the honor of Celebrating 10 Years of Disney-MGM Studios & with big editions to the park as it continues to grow. Sure this anniversary does include a kids show called Bear in the Big Blue House: Live, replaced the Soundstage Restaurant on Soundstage 5 & the thrilling new attraction, Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith on Sunset Boulevard, but that idea for replaced an Rock n Roll Themed in a few years/decades & not to remove the coaster that will return sooner enough.

But for now there also something else that we need since the Magic Kingdom had & its right down below to the first thing for its 10th year.

(Drawing/Concept Idea by stitchcastle in 2005)

Chinese Theatre Stage Plaza: Lights, Camera, Dreams with Mickey & Pals (May 01, 1999 - January 20, 2004)
In honor of the Studios 10th Anniversary, Disney-MGM Studios makes a Stage similar to the Cinderella Castle Forecourt Stage miles away from the Magic Kingdom that features a Mickey & Friends stage show.

This show follows a similar way to Tokyo Disneyland's Mickey's Gift of Dreams & Magic Kingdom's Cinderella's Surprise Celebration but in a Hollywood setting. & its set at the studios Plaza/Hub with the Chinese theater as the backdrop. The show incorporates music, special light effects, dozens of performers dancing & with Mickey & His Pals helping a small town girl who dreams of making it big in Hollywood.

Pre-Show:
The before show begins, the actual showtime as streetmosphere performers take their spots on Hollywood Boulevard and lets guests feel as if they really are in Hollywood.

ACT 1:
The show actually begins with Director & the cameramen After that the music starts & The streetmosphere performers dance to Hooray for Hollywood with Mickey & His Friends joining them.

ACT 2:
Then after that song, Mickey & His Friends like to welcome them to the show & then a town girl feels & they tell her Why so blue, the girl wants to be a star & dream big and as they help the girl fulfill her dreams of becoming a movie star by starting with acting to many classic scenes like Singing in the Rain, Steps in Time from Mary Poppins.

ACT 3:
Goofy & Donald talks the town girl about Adventure, featuring Star Wars & Indiana Jones.

ACT 4:
But then as the Indiana Jones Trap scene began from adventure becomes a nightmare, the Disney & Star Wars Villains try to take over. Maleficent, Hades, The Evil Queen, Darth Vader & His Stormtroopers appear, towering over the Fab Five, threatening to wreak havoc over their precious dreams, & then Maleficent transforms into a dragon breathing fire, similar height & design from It's Magical from Tokyo Disneyland in 1993. However, with the help of the Town Girl who did believe of begin a star she dispels this nightmare, as Mickey & the Town Girl defeated the villains.

ACT 5:
Mickey & His Pals are proud of the Town Girl saving them from the evil villains, & she had a dream for them as some the characters and a myriad of dancers, Mickey and his pals wish that all our dreams come true & being a star with Sorcerer Mickey & the small town girl, followed by Mickey saying, "We will see you in the Movies, haha!" & a flash of pyrotechnics. As it end the director says CUT, That's a Wrap & the whole cast takes a bow & everyone got off the stage.

That's the 90s, but this is just the begin of the Parallel Timeline of the Studios, Stay Tuned to the 2000s, 2010s & 2020s for bigger surprises that some of you made like it or love it, Remember its everyone opinions, & i'm fine with that.

World of Color
A Nighttime show at Disney's Hollywood Adventure is similar to at California Adventure when it open in June 2010, Conceived by Vice President of Parades and Spectaculars, Steve Davison & designed by Walt Disney Creative Entertainment, the show has nearly 1,200 musical water fountains and includes lights, fire, lasers, and fog, with high-definition projections on mist screens. The show is inspired by Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color anthology television series, as evidenced by the use of its eponymous theme song written by the Sherman Brothers.

This show area in New York Waterfront also features a new seating area & wet area for this new show.

IMG_6607.jpg

New Statue at the Hub
In honor of Hollywood Adventure 25th Anniversary, Disney wants to had another new statue to mark its 25th year of Hollywood & Magic. So they add in The Storytellers statue, a bronze statue depicting Walt Disney standing next to his most famous creation, Mickey Mouse, which serves as a counterpart to the iconic Partners statue at the Magic Kingdom.

The statue was commissioned for the overhauled and expanded Disney's Hollywood Adventure, where it stands between the Brown Derby & Sunset Boulevard & also getting a horizon view from the Chinese Theatre at the background.

Unlike Partners, which depicts a more mature and successful Walt Disney, Storytellers depicts a younger Walt as he might have looked when he arrived in Los Angeles in 1923. Mickey, despite not having existed yet in 1923, is seen in his earlier design from the early 1930s, standing on top of a large suitcase next to Walt. Also unlike Partners, which is elevated, fenced off and surrounded by a bed of flowers, Storytellers is placed on a street corner at ground level and is accessible to park guests. Two plaques are placed on either side of the statue. The one to the right quotes Walt Disney as saying, "We are just getting started." The plaque to the left uses another, longer quote: "It was July 1923. I packed all of my worldly goods — a pair of trousers, a checkered coat, a lot of drawing materials and the last of the fairy tale reels we had made — in a kind of frayed cardboard suitcase. And with that wonderful audacity of youth, I went to Hollywood, arriving there with just forty dollars. It was a big day the day I got on that Santa Fe California Limited. I was just free and happy!"

Red-Car-Trolley-Show-Closing-FP.jpeg

Red Car Trolley News Boys
The Red Car Trolley News Boys is a lively musical show inspired by Disney’s “Newsies,” a musical and movie that features 1920s and ’30s tunes with the message that anyone can be anything and the News Boys have been performing alongside Mickey Mouse to share their “suitcase and a dream” with Disney's Hollywood Adventure guests.

Sometimes this show could maybe played both songs in one show or maybe just one song per-show, They would played Seized the Day or You Can Dream It.
