Updated with direct link to Disney Parks Blog. Just for fun, I looked at room rates for July 13-15th, mid week....$435/night for cheapest available room. Holy buckets.

Did the Spa ever open at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa? That name might be a little premature.
The following activities and amenities are not available at this time:

  • Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa
  • Select hotel dining and character dining
  • In-room dining service
  • Art of Craft Tour
  • Children’s lobby entertainment areas
  • Extra Magic Hour benefit
  • Instructor-led fitness classes
  • Special classes and programs
  • Character experiences

Yeah but if I am remembering correctly (and it WAS a long time ago), the Spa was still under construction when the pandemic started. I seem to think that it was nearing an opening date sometime in May of 2020? I also seem to remember that it was going to be tied into the big "reveal" of the refreshed rooms and the new CM costumes around that time... The rooms and costumes are done, but I guess the SPA can't open just yet.

  • Art of Craft Tour

I've been meaning to do this. I hope it comes back.

And to think, I was comparison shopping on the Harbor/Katella hotels to see if I wanted to pay $145-$165/night...what a bargain compared to PP. I can't fathom spending $435/night for a hotel of PPs quality.

Ya those prices are crazy. Then again those are the prices most of us pay when we’re on vacation. They are definitely not local/ staycation friendly prices.

I’m staying at the Anaheim Marriott for $140 a night (weekend rates). I still can’t get a straight answer about what the situation will be in regards to the shuttle service. I was told to download the Trip Shot App.

I mean it’s pretty hard to find something for $140 a night in Hawaii. It would be great though.
We paid $179/night for the Hilton Hawaiian Village about 9 years ago...doubt I could get nearly that rate anymore. When we go back, we very well may do airbnb...the prices are unbeatable in Hawaii (Maui/Kauai)...a fraction of what Disney charges for something like PPH and far more beautiful.

The weekend rate for Grand Californian in September is $743 + tax.

The prices for all Disney hotels are Goofy.
At Disney World you at least get transportation all over the massive resort and delivery of purchases to your hotel rooms. Disneyland I just don't get what the point of staying on property is.

At least Grand Californian feels like an extension of the park and someplace special.

Disneyland Hotel and PPH are more like downtown city hotels with Disney iconography. They're a far cry from the likes of Animal Kingdom Lodge, Tokyo DisneySea MiraCosta or the Paris Disneyland Hotel etc.

I was very lucky to be able to use DVC points on our upcoming VGC stay. I wouldn’t pay rack rate, but for points? Hells yeah!

I personally love the downtown city feel of the two hotels. Perhaps in the future Disney could go back to old plans and use California inspired landmarks to create a new look for existing two hotels.

That's true. The themed hotels of Disney World are so great (they have their share of boring ones as well though). Wish Disneyland had some more hotels with theming.

The real benefit of staying at the DL hotel is it being a short stagger back from Trader Sam's
