So, I got to the park around 10:30, bought the new Tiki Room POP and managed to get into Disneyland around 12. After doing Mr. Lincoln, I thought I’d go on Pirates or Haunted...but no...both closed. So I went to the Tiki Room (55th Anniversary was today). Got out and checked Pirates. Still down. Went to try and ride Buzz...and IT was closed! So I finally decided to grab a pretzel. That’s when I looked at the wait board and Peter Pan was closed too...
Conspiracy Theory....Disney trying to subtly usher guests next door...
I left at 1:30 because I just didn’t feel like waiting around for the attractions to re-open.
Is this supposed to be impressive on opening day?
Love that they know they're second best and embrace it. They're not trying to compete with Disneyland, just act as an unofficial second gate.Ouch!
Knott's has been burning Disneyland in their ads for decades. This one from 1977 appeared on the back of Vacationland magazine, which, ironically, was published by Disney.

Considering I-coaster's capacity is 2400 per hour the peak wait times today were impressive.
Believe it or not, back in 1980. Disneyland and Knott's made birthday ads to each other and is very heartwarming.Ouch!

I see. Didn’t really take that into account but 70 min still seems kind of low for opening day. But I guess not really. It’s an old ride with new static figures. How crazy can people go for it?

Weren't most of the lower APs also blocked out today, meaning only Signature APs allowed...
Yeah they were. So that’s also a factor. I still thought it would at least hit 2 hours at some point.
