Package payment deadlines

So we have a resort and tickets package booked for early June. Our Disney imposed deadline for final payment is April 20. We're going to be close to being paid off by then but realistically we will probably be a few hundred bucks short.
Does anyone know what happens if you miss the deadline? The reason I ask this here is that I have gotten three different answers from guest services and I have no idea what is what. Has anyone else ever dealt with this issue? We will probably be able to pay it off by early May. Thanks in advance.

Any chance you could flip it from a package to a room only, pay off the room only, then add your park tickets back on later?

That's a pretty good idea, thanks. We're reserved with the Spring 30% discount though, and since that has ended, I wonder if it would make the room rate spike up. But good idea. Thanks again.

It won't cancel until 30 days out. Call them and explain to them and give them your estimated day you can pay in full. They may work with you.

They usually are more than willing to work with you and give you a week or 2 extension. Make sure you call and let them know when you are able to make that final payment.
