Did Kendrick and SZA not get asked to perform All the Stars orrrrr?

Just weird for the Academy to say that all 5 nominees would be performing their songs... and not include the one that had the most pop radio play alongside Shallow.

It was announced a couple of days ago they weren’t performing. Even though I really love the song, SZA can not sing live

Potential dark Horse upsets, and why:

PICTURE: Green Book (preferential ballotting advantage, which hurts Roma)

ACTRESS: Lady Gaga, A Star is Born (no other reason than star power)

SUPPORTING ACTRESS: Amy Adams, Vice (six nominations, yet no wins)

VISUAL EFFECTS: Ready Player One (Spielberg basically directed 2 films and his SFX team may be awarded for that)

I’m happy with a nice balance of wins for Bohemian Rhapsody, Green Book, and Gaga.

Oh, and get a host. And don’t cut off the last freaking winners of the night.

I actually had several Vegas parlays on the favorites winning with Green Book taking the big prize.

I actually thought the hostless thing actually worked! I really liked how we got to see different people get their own spotlight instead of one person running the whole show!

The issue is there will be little to no YouTube clicks on the Oscars main page. Without an opening monologue, they can’t monetize their presenters as effectively.

I really don’t get the Green Book love. It’s reverse Driving Miss Daisy.

I do. But as I said on FB when I picked it, I’m biased. I’m Italian and from the same area. It felt like home.

Technically, it should have been the favorite. The Oscars don’t have a winner takes all voting system, but a preferential system like the Heisman Trophy. It must have had far and away the most 2nd and 3rd place votes, while Roma was 1 or none.

Some thoughts-

• The Mexican director winning streak continues (like 6 of the last 7 Best Director wins are Mexican, which is a neat fact)
• This was a good night in the end for Disney/Marvel. Black Panther, a comic book movie, won 3 Academy Awards, in categories that were not sound editing, mixing, or visual effects.
• Spike Lee was a joy to watch
• Pink and red- apparently the official colors of tonight’s Oscars
• Billy Porter is now my favorite person to look for on the red carpet
• I’d be fine without a host next year, but the Academy would need to start working on the opening number now.
• Cutting the very last Oscar speech was weird. Like, they just cut the mic. Which made the cut to Julia Roberts even more awkward.
