Osborne Lights help

There are a few sections of the show where it seems like the lights are covered in some sort of see-through fabric or mesh. I am attempting to re-create this effect this year for my Outdoor decorations but I do not know what is used. Does anyone have any idea what I am talking about or know what the fabric is? Has anyone else tried this at home? Thanks.

Haven't seen it yet, but from your description, it could be scrim.

Yeah, now that you say that it is kind of like a scrim. But what is a scrim made of? I did not post any pictures of it because it is hard to see it in a photo.

According to wikipedia, it is made of cotton or flax. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scrim_(material)

Edit: I'm also a hobbyist, big-time outside Christmas decorator. I have been synchronizing lights to music for the past six or seven years. Have been playing with the idea of using it for rear projection, but have not experimented with it yet.

You can see scrim used in the Carousel of Progress for the "side rooms." Murals painted on the outside of the scrim disappear when the lights are turned on behind the scrim, illuminating the different scenes.

If you have a picture can you post it? I am familiar with certain techniques and may be able to help.
If you look at the purple lights on the building there seems to be some sort purple scrim there. It almost looks like chiffon or something like that.
