Operational change at Expedition Everest

Since I don't use LL, I can't honestly remember where LL enters the load area. Can someone help me out with this?

Everest queue "before":

Standby
LL
Single rider

Everest queue "today":

Even
Odd
LL
Single rider

I'm trying to figure out how this odd/even grouping thing improves efficiency.

I'm trying to figure out how this odd/even grouping thing improves efficiency.
At the LL merge point, they send all standby and LL either left or right depending on an even or odd group. It’s not four separate lines. Single rider is still a separate line option but you’re just not going to be pulled from as frequently as you used to.

Thank you! I'd love to see this in action, because I'm a visual person, but that helps it make sense.

5 cars per train. 3 rows of 2 guests per car, except the last car is 2x2.

So, as long as it's all parties of 2/3/4, everything will be fine and dandy. Once you get into 5's and 7's is where things break down and single riders would likely get pulled in. Yikes. As long as every train is full, I guess.

Guests should not be sit next to someone they do not know in a situation where there is only capacity for two people.
It’s really not a big deal. You’re at a theme park. You’re gonna have to share a space with people you don’t know at some point. They’re not coming over for dinner they’re sitting next to you on a roller coaster for a few minutes.

The side eye I’ve gotten at Remys when I sit next to a family from single rider lol
I side eye them right back! Getting mad that a single rider is joining your odd numbered party for a few minutes is deeply weird behavior. Booking a vacation to one of the busiest places in the world and then acting all aghast that you have to share space with a stranger is like stabbing yourself and being shocked that there’s blood.

Don’t disagree but the 3 seater bench on Remy is def more intimate than a roller coaster lol

As mentioned, two odd groups doesn’t leave any single seats left. The odd-even splitting drastically reduces the number of individual seats that need a single person. It can be so much more efficient that you just don’t even bother with a single rider line. Single riders are just an odd group who get paired with another odd group.

You don’t have to exclusively pull from the odd or even sides. A train can be a mix, so if you have a large odd group then you can add a second smaller odd group, and then fill the train with even groups.

Gotcha, I figured it would be something like “evens over here, odds over there” to keep things simpler. I’ll be curious to hear how this goes over the coming weeks.

This has clearly been done at Guardians for a while and seems to work well. I shouldn’t think they would favor one line in the front and the next line in the back (and iirc at guardians it’s one train even then one odd) but I’d be curious what the protocol says

Basically for Everest to run at full capacity each train needs 14 "pairs" of people sitting next to each other (28 people total).

Lets make this worst case scenario for standby (and assuming there is no one in SR line)
The first person is solo and takes half of row 1
The next group is a group of 2, so they take rows 2
The next group is a group of 3, so they take 3 and half of 4 (they don't want to split up and take half of row 1 and row 3 with strangers between)
The next group is 2 and take 5
The next group is 3 and take 6 and half of 7
The next group is 2 and takes 8
The next group is 3 and takes 9 and half of 10
The next group is 2 and takes 11
Then another group of 3 takes 12 and half of 13
Then the final group is a group of 2 and takes row 14
The train leaves with 5 empty seats
FRONT
1. XO
2. XX
3. XX
4. XO
5. XX
6. XX
7. X0
8. XX
9. XX
10.X0
11.XX
12.XX
13.XO
14.XX

Now lets assume they did the even/odd split.
The solo person still gets half of row 1
Now they put a group of 3 with the solo person to fill out row 1 and row 2
Then group of 2 in row 3
Group of 3 in row 4 and half of 5
Another group of 3 in half of 5 and 6... and so of and so on. Now those extra 5 seats will hopefully be filled by a group of 3 and a group of 2... meaning that's 5 less people in the standby line moving forward.

Basically turning each 2 groups of 3 into a group of 6... they can fill every seat with still meeting expectations of even parties sitting together and odd parties splitting up as little as possible.

Agreed, and three adults is really pushing it. If they didn’t have a capacity issue, they’d never even think to do that.

On Everest you almost always got a seat mate if riding alone, so this is not a change in that manner. Just sounds like more math for the CM’s!

How is it more math? You always have a row full if you pull an even group or a pair of odd groups. No having to grab an individual quickly and make sure they go to the correct specific spot.

What is the point of this change? How does it make ops more efficient? (Hint, it doesn't.) There is already a single rider line, which is more than efficient enough to fill empty spaces, without separating out odd and even-numbered parties.
It's not about efficiency -- It re-monetizes the long wait in the stand-by line, my friend.

People who don't have to wait won't leave as much money at the gate...

Take two groups from the odds line, then take (roughly) the same number of people from the evens line. Rinse and repeate.

Also removes the issue of groups in the single rider line holding up the line when the grouper splits up their group (despite the fact that the single rider line clearly states that groups will be seperated).
