The dust has settled...and nothing has changed! But who do you want to hold the keys to the kingdom in 2026?

This poll is to express YOUR PREFERENCE, not your prediction! If you want to share your prediction below, by all means comment!

I chose Mayer because of his experience with digital platforms and with direct to consumer products, Disney’s bet the farm on D+ so it has to succeed, that said Staggs is probably the more obvious choice and Walden is probably the one who’s going to get it.

Currently inside the company: Walden, mostly as the Fox tv stuff she oversaw is still putting out good stuff, unlike the majority of the company. That and she's being openly groomed to be Iger's successor (until she gets the Staggs treatment in 2026).
Outside: Mayer or Staggs, Staggs should have got it in 2016 and Mayer was a more sensible choice when he was still in the company as he masterminded a lot of the acquisitions made in the Iger era and early Disney+ stuff.
Knowing our luck it will be D'Amaro or Chapek again, because we can't have good things.

From outside the present company, Tom Staggs. From inside, Dana Walden.

I suspect it will actually be Dana Walden so Iger can keep his hooks into the company.

I call for new leadership- the company needs a new start with new thinking not a rehash of the past. Replacing Bobby with ‘what would Bobby do’ isn't the way forward

Thank goodness Nelson Peltz lost! What a relief! Now, I know this may not happen, but I'm hoping that Kevin Mayer and Tom Staggs will be the next CEO's of Disney.
By the way, with all your permission, I like to post this to honor victorious Bob Iger:

It's most likely to be Walden as modern Disney is very concerned with optics.

That said, Mayer is far more qualified as Walden only has entertainment experience and none with anything from islands to animatronics to acquisitions. Mayer was top level viewing on everything and he should have gotten it over Chapek in the first place. However, I've no idea who he irritated to lose the gig originally as he should have been primed for it.

That said, I still hope for the dark horse of Jimmy Pitaro who has great leadership skills and personality and has experience in various parts of the company. I saw him years ago as a potential Iger successor, but he seemed to get sidelined at ESPN.

I don't get people's obsession with Staggs who was an accountant, with the personality and leadership skills of an accountant.

My guess is that Disney fans want Tom Staggs to be the next ceo of Disney, because he understands Disney. Well, that’s what I heard.

I'm now convinced Iger will not leave unless forced out by a 50%+ shareholder vote, or gets so old that it becomes obvious the board has to retire him.

Well he will be 75 almost 76 (turning 76 in Feb 2027) by the end of 2026, so yeah that is getting up there in years. I don't see any reason to believe he is just going to keep going for another 10+ years. This is why this fear idea of him never leaving until forced out is silly. By the end of 2026 he'll fade out of the spotlight as the new CEO will have taken over.

I suspect we'll hear about the next CEO sometime between Oct '24 and March '25. This gives enough lead time to have the next CEO come up to speed and take over while still having Iger shadow them before the end of 2026.

He works out in his home personal gym with his trainer at 430am daily , 45 min on the Versa Climber. Some can't even last 5 min.

Yes yes I know the big bad Iger will last forever until the villagers come storm the castle with pitchforks on torches in hand.
You know our country is lazy when back in the day in protest they marched . Now they occupy. ( ie Wall Street protests, some years back ).

And some professional athletes in peak shape drop dead at 35, what’s your point?
Exercise has many health benefits, Ask any doctor or educated individual. At ESPN WDW in 2012 , First Lady Michelle Obama promoted Let's Move to address one of the USA epidemics childhood obesity.

Yes I aware, but age and death are the great equalizers. Just because the man works out x number of hours everyday doesn’t mean his body or mind will last forever. He could drop dead tomorrow for all the good that the exercise does him. The point is at 73 his number of years left on the planet is small and he knows it.
