Not so sure about Mission Space

Half the time I go to Epcot I pass mission space and save the time for a ride I really care for. The Space mountain show to me is much more of a must see with the beginning, the roller coaster and the post show. I enjoy the whole pavilion from entrance to exit. I love all the music and the new ending is like a little glance of Horizons. I wish they would add a ride like the new post show on space mountain with bigger sets and some Imax displays and a post show full of egzibits which they might have, its been a while since I have set foot in the pavilion. I would enjoy that a whole not more than a simulator ride. Sum of all thrills and Test Track are both well worth skipping mission space, sadly I am afraid if getting sick on Sum of all thrills. Its a beautiful building and a good attraction but I think the building could be more packed with attractions and fit in a slow ride, anyone agree?

There are two versions, so do not be worried! This is one of the few rides that have this, try the "tame" one first, then if you are "BRAVE" enough...(triple dog dare ya), then go for the other version. I have never done the tame version..and I have seen other grown men come out with their families fanning and holding their hands...just keep your eyes forward..do NOT look side to side! It is a great ride, ya gotta do it!

This is a ride that I like to enjoy but I only like to go on rides with friends so its rare anyone can go on it with me. Plus I need to have a bit of an empty stomach as well. But it is a fun attraction none the less.

Love Mission Space, or at least now I do... We were lucky enough to go to Disney the year that MS opened, and we could not wait to go on. Let me just say this I LOVE THRILL rides, but I swore when I got off that ride I would never ride it again. Well, this past Sept my DS was old and tall enough to ride and since there are now 2 versions,I decided to give it a go!!! Well, I loved the less insence version and am looking forward to riding it again come December!

And, now we wait for those people to pop in and tell us how horribly wrong we are. :dazzle:

Not me! I really like M:S. I liked Horizons plenty, but I also enjoy the way in which Disney turned a spin ride into such a creative experience. I think that the long hallway exit could use an improved bit of imagineering, but the attraction is a great experience overall.

I like it but I just wish it had more to offer and I do like the look of the old building. The ride was good but I don't miss it to much, I could just settle for a better Journey into Imagination and an ending to Spaceship Earth. I just miss the farm and underwater scene, the rest was ok.

I really liked Horizons, and I really like Mission: Space. As was already mentioned, with the two different intensity levels offered pretty much anyone can experience the ride now, and I think it is a great attraction. Mission: Space is cutting edge technology, has a forward-looking, futuristic storyline but most of all I just think it is a fun ride.

M:S is okay. The pre-show is arduous and suffers from too much explanation, killing any spontaneity, and too many warnings. Having a recognizable actor spoils any illusion. The ride itself is similar to Star Tours (think about the sequence of events and you'll see that they are almost identical). The most fun is playing with the switches and buttons prior to launch. The interactivity is a nice touch. The best sensation is descending to the planet. Otherwise, the fun factor is minimal. And the exit is a dingy hallway. Is that what Mars is supposed to be like? The best part is there's never a line. So overall - average.

I have often wondered about that myself.

Like when Claire Huxtable warns you about time travel in Dinosaur!

Or when Puddy (or Brock Sampson) becomes your flight attendant.

I guess it is a thrill for the big name stars to be part of a Disney attraction, but it does sort of take you out of that realm of suspense of reality.

I have ridden M:S twice. While I enjoyed it I have stopped riding it. I'm a tad claustrophobic. But my husband and daughter ride it without me. They ride the intense side and love it. I didn't get queasy but we once rode Star Tours and were so excited because we got to sit up front. I will never ride up front on that again. I was so sick to my stomach after. UGH! I will stick to the back for that ride.

Give it a try at least once. Like someone else said, just keep your eyes forward.

Ever since I got really sick on the graviton I am afraid to ride Mission space. That sickness was half my stupidity because I was riding upside down and sideways but that thought never leaves.

I'm not a big fan of Mission Space, but I think everyone should give it a try. For me, I'm more of a roller coaster girl, and this ride was underwhelming. My husband, however, who refuses to ride ToT and RnR enjoys MS (the lighter side, of course :)). To each his own!
