Steve Davison - Creative Director for WDI told the NFFC Disneyana Convention:

There will not, however, be a Walt Disney World version of the popular Haunted Mansion overlay. “They (WDW) didn't want it." Davison said. "So Tokyo's getting it instead."

However, something WDW did want is to keep Walt's Private Office, so that is not returning for the [DL's] 50th

2 Things -

1. Why wouldn't they want it? It is VERY popular. :hammer:

2. How dumb is it and makes me mad that Walt's office is staying at WDW and not going back to DL for the 50th. It should be returned to where it has been for decades. Makes me mad! :mad:

THEY DONT WANT IT!? Why not!? :fork: I was lookin forward to it being there when I go in December. I agree with bhg469, they just dont want me to be happy.

I'd like to know if that was an "exact quote" or what context it was said in. Did they not want it since they were spending their capital elsewhere this year?

I've heard they wanted to spend the extra $$$ for the Stitch attraction, which if that is the case, is an incredibley smart move. Put as much $$$ as you can into a permanent attraction as opposed to cutting it's budget for a Holiday overlay of an existing attraction.

From what has been tossed around we are supposed to get The Mansion holiday in 2005.

As much as I'd love to see this, I can wait til next year with all the work being done all over the parks, return of the Osbourne Lights, and new attractions being built. :D

I really hope he just means it wont happen this year because of SGE and well get it in 2005 otherwise itll seem kinda err wait I mean really dumb not put something that popular at WDW,well in my opinion anyways.And even though ive never been to DL I think they should return Walt's office back to DL because of DL's 50th,it belongs at DL.

Maybe WDW doesn't want it since they decorate specifically for the MNSSHP, as a hard ticket event (ie. get more $$). I saw pictures of TDL and they apaprently decorate the whole park for Halloween, like WDW does for Christmas. Special displays, banners and everything. The park is like that all day though for all guests to enjoy. WDW never decorates for Halloween, except for the party on select nights. Walk in the MK during the day in October and it's no differnet than any other non-Christmas season day, decoration wise.

In my opinion The Haunted Mansion overlay just doesn't work for Walt Disney World. The Walt Disney World Resort experiences more first time visitors that expect to see the original Haunted Mansion while there on vacation. The Disneyland Resort has more locals visiting where the overlay works well. For this reason alone I can’t see Walt Disney World ever changing the attraction.

I agree. WDW gets many more visitors who can't afford to come very often, if more than once in their lifetime. If I was only able to visit WDW once in my life, I would want to see the original, not an overlay.

Wasn't this one of the complaints of the pink birthday cake castle, that people who were finally getting a chance to visit the Magic Kingdom did not get to see the "real" castle?

(personally, I would love to see the overlays, but I am at the parks every week :D )

that stage show at Tokyo is no longer in production, it was cancelled 3 months ago.

There new Summer show is Buzz Lightyear Splash...it travels down the parade path with mickey and the gang helping buzz defeat Zurg...by squirting the adience with high power water guns ,the castle has sprays on the towers to soak those who try to hide.

We need something like that at Aniamal Kingdom.
