I have to admit, I didn't know our third string. God, I'm embarrassed.

I know a lot of the back-up quarterbacks in the league, regardless of whether it's my team or not. I'm a huge NFL junkie. People are usually surprised at how I know all of these players. :) Graham Harrell for the Packers by the way, and no 3rd string QB.

I worked with a lady that was the worlds biggest Giants fan. After they beat the Patriots to win the Superbowl (the first time) she was spouting off about how great their kicker "Tice" played. Wait - what?! My Patriots fan friend went OFF. My office had this stupid victory party in the cafe with cupcakes decorated like Giants helmets - he and I were the ONLY two people in the company that declined to attend. And I RARELY pass up on sweets!!! I could no stand in a room full of NFL bandwagon crashers congratulating themselves on another ring.

Packers fans probably know Tynes' name better than Giants fans. He ruined our dreams once. Tice is the offensive coordinator of the Bears by the way.

Yeah - at the time I think he was head coach of the Vikings so it was just so bizarre she used that name. It was a perfect illustration of what I'm surrounded by.

I'm also a Mets fan living in a Yankees world so I get it alllll yearrr loooong.

Falcons are a 6-0 and I have a couple of question from things I noticed while at the Dome today:

1) John Abraham hits Carson Palmer in the 3rd quarter, Palmer fumbles, Ray Edwards scoops and rambles to the 2 yard line....WHY DID THAT GO TO A BOOTH REVIEW??? NO CHALLENGE FLAG WAS TOSSED!!!

I thought booth reviews were only:
a) For scores
b) Anything inside the last 2 minutes of either half.

After the booth review, the white cap announced "After further review, the quarterbacks arm was not moving forward....." They were not reviewing to see if it was a score (touchdown)

2) Oakland had 1st & goal on the 8 (somewhere around there) with under 1 minute to play, and ran McFadden to the 2 yard line. The Falcons had all 3 time outs and weren't going to call one? Why? It was 2nd down, and at most the Raider only had 3 more plays (barring personal foul). They ended up getting "lucky" when Asante Samuel (sorry if misspelled) was hurt and the Falcons were charges a T/O. Had that not happened, there would have been very little time left when Oakland scored on the next play (the clock would have been running the entire time). It turned out, we got the ball back with 40 seconds, and the rest is history!

All turnovers are also reviewed now

Can't believe my Dolphins are in 1st place in the AFC East after week 6!!!!!! :)

Sorry, I know technically they are not, but I couldn't resist! It just felt GOOD to be able to say that 6 weeks into a season! :p

6-0 Falcons!!? Kudos to the boys in Atl for an incredible start. I wouldn't mind seeing the Falcons take home a Super Bowl ring, but sadly, there is more than meets the eye for the undefeated Birds.

While their winning record looks great, I am still worried they will go one & done yet again in the playoffs. And the way Atlanta's professional sports teams are becoming more & more a nationwide joke with their playoff follies (Falcons 0-3 in the past three appearances, the Hawks always getting knocked-out early, and don't even get me started on the Braves' collapses), I am rather worried what will happen when the Falcons have to play one of the "big boys" in postseason.

Granted, 6-0 is incredible, and I hope I'm way wrong with my postseason prediction for Atl. But consider this:
-The Falcons have only beat one team thus far who has a winning record: San Diego Chargers (3-2).
-Four of Atl's wins have been against teams with losing records (3 of which have only one win).
-Had Cam Newton not fumbled in the 4th qtr during the Carolina/Atlanta game...the Panthers would have won.
-Peyton Manning's 3 early interceptions did more to aid Atl's score against Denver than Atl's actual offense.
-The 1-4 Oakland Raiders gave Atl several opportunities yesterday with bad throws...handing Atl the win.
-Atlanta should have crushed Oakland yesterday & Carolina earlier this month. Instead, they almost lost one which turned around due to Carolina's final missteps, and barely won the other by a long FG.

So while riding high now, I am concerned with how well Atl will do when the postseason arrives. If they can handle the Eagles in 2 weeks, or the New York Giants on 12/16 the same way they've done during the first 6 games, then I'll feel better about their chances.

I understand what you mean. But remember all 32 NFL teams are good so anyway you can get a win is good. The fact that they are 6-0 is a very good start. Some of those wins might have been close, but also remember good teams do find a way to win the close games. In fact one of the keys to having a good year is to find a way to win the close games. Now I am not saying that they don't have things to works on. For one thing I think all the NFL teams are always trying to get better. Anyways they still have 10 more games for them to play so we will have to see what they do in those games to get a better idea. But for right now they are doing good.

Now I need the Falcons to win their next game since they will be playing the Eagles. After that they play the Cowboys and I want the Cowboys to be the first team to beat the Falcons. I also want the Falcons to beat the Giants. The Cowboys might need all the help they can get this year.

-Oakland's spent the entire game collapsing the pocket on Ryan, with very little resistance from our O-line
-And how did Carson Palmer catch Assante?? Weatherspoon missed/didn't attempt a block, but still!
-After the bye, we are @ Philly, Dallas in the Dome, @ N.O, and Arizona in the Dome
- Only one of those 4 have a winning record as well, and they are probably a pretender (Arizona)
- I expect we are probably a 10-6 team that will have 12 wins this year
-And shaky at best

There is always hope!

No team really stikes me as elite. I thought the Texans were, until my Pack tore their top 3 defense apart (and shockingly our defense played well.) The Falcons have problems as others have stated, the Giants are inconsistent, as well as the Patriots. Strange season we are having.

Also, my AFC Super Bowl pick was the Ravens, but with the loss of Ray Lewis and Ladarius Webb for the season, I am no longer picking them.

And the 1-4 Saints are only 2 games out of the wild card (granted they have 3 conference losses already). At this point in the season the Giants, Bears, Falcons and Seattle are looking good in the NFC...Pittsburgh is still in decent shape in the AFC. Houston appears the strongest, Peyton looking good of late, usually disappoints in the playoffs.
