Am I reading that correctly, or does one of those books really say: "DisneyWar"? :eek:o_O

And thanks for the invite. Glad to officially be part of Club: Ravens!
(Sorry, NFC, lose the narcissism & maybe next Super Bowl).

Actually I think I see 2 copies.... and a Tron DVD?

Not sure what's been said since the games since I just got back from Disney, but boy, did the Pats ever suck last Sunday. We stopped watching in the 3rd quarter. They were just awful. But take nothing away from the Ravens - They outplayed them in the 2nd half by a long shot. I won't defend Bill. I didn't know he skipped the post game interview, but that's just lame. As for them going to Brady instead of Flaaco, that's not a big surprise, and not Brady's fault. He's more of a star than Flaaco is, but since he played so poorly, I'm sure many people wanted to hear what he had to say.

Last year when they lost the SB, I was really bummed. This game, I honestly wasn't upset at all. They didn't deserve to win. Last 2 SB losses were flukes. They got outplayed in every aspect of the game against the Ravens. The Pats didn't deserve to win that game.

Who the hell punts on 4th down from your opponents 30 yard line - TWICE??????

I was originally rooting for the 49er's going into the big game because:
a). It would be cool to see the SF 49er's win the Super Bowl just after the SF Giants won the World Series
b). I'm an NFC guy
c). The greatest show in all of television history, Full House, takes place in SF.

HOWEVER, that is beginning to change quickly and I am starting to turn toward the side of the Ravens. The 49er's QB (Kapernick-spelling?), yeah I know he's young & all, but geesh...show a little humility going into such an important game!! His pre-Super Bowl interviews make him look a little, um, into himself to say the least. He's acting like he's already won the big game, and he's the alpha & omega of pro-football. o_O
Like I said, he's a very young player, so maybe it's just over-excitement of a rookie. But compared to other young players (Seattle's new QB), this 49er's fellow just seems to enjoy the smell of his own farts waaay too much. Act humbled to be going to the Super Bowl. Act honored to be going...not like it's owed to you. Don't act like you're doing a favor to the reporters by taking a few seconds to answer their questions. Granted, this kid has a great future ahead of him for sure. I am just having a hard time warming up to his character after what I've seen over the past few days.

Oh, and it was GORE who saved the day & helped the 49er's beat Atlanta last week...moreso than Kapernick. You shouldn't be that boastful kid if 1). You didn't beat the Falcons by even the equivalent of a touchdown, and 2). Gore was the main hero of that game, not you! Show some humility!

End Rant

p.s. @StarWarsGirl95 got room for another Ravens fan around here for the Super Bowl? I'm switching sides! :D
Of course! There's always room for those who'd like to switch to the purple side.

I'm going with the Ravens. Ray Rice is the biggest player to recently come out of where I went to college so I might as well root for the guy who gets the main spot and loudest cheers in the "Knights in the NFL" segment during games.

I'm pulling for the 49ers. The Ravens are a big rival of the Pats, but not just for that reason. There are so many thugs on that team (Ray Lewis included), I just can't get myself to like them. And Pollard is probably the dirtiest player in the game today. He needs to be banned for life or he's going to kill someone.

Is it me, or has it become quite noticeable the Patriots have not won a thing since they stopped video-taping the other teams practices?

Jimmy Thick- Just a passing, yet factual thought.

Just more Jimmy nonsense. Brady/Belichik have a better record since after the whole "spygate" thing than they did before. They've been in 2 SB's since then, both of which they would have won if not for complete fluke plays. Jimmy, you pretend to know about football. Hate the Pats all you want (most of the NFL fans outside New England do, no different than the Yankees), but enough with "Spygate". Every team was doing it, and every team thought it was legal. Had Mangini not said anything, it would still be being done. Why do you think the guy hasn't had a job in the NFL for so long?

Well that was a close, nail biting Pro Bowl. 62-35 NFC win. Supposedly the efforts were good from the players this year, although I didn't see any defensive effort from the 5ish minutes I watched.

I did see Jeff Saturday go over to the AFC team and take his final snap ever with Peyton Manning. I thought that was a nice touch to the game.

Ray Lewis is from my hometown, and my boyfriend took a class with Torrey Smith at UMD. So, go Ravens, haha.

Wooooa Wooooa.....dirtiest player? Why because he is a hard tough SOB...that will knock the snot out of you. He dosnt take cheap shots. He plays the way the game was meant to be played.....show me ONE....just one cheap shot?

From my point of view as a non-biased Ravens/Texans/Chiefs or Patriots fan, all of the hits that Pollard had on the Patriots were legal. Brady- he was trying to make a sack after Pollard was knocked to the ground. Welker- Pollard barely touched him, to me it looks like Welker tore his ACL when he planted his foot in the ground. Gronkowski- Pollard just happened to fall down on his ankle while making the tackle. Ridley- Porbably the closest to being a dirty hit, but I still think that Pollard was trying to avoid the helmet, and then Ridley hut his head down. That's just my view of all of it.

How about 4?

The guy is a thug who takes pride in hurting other players. You don't hit a QB low. You don't trip a wide receiver. You don't grab someone's leg and twist their ankle. And you don't smash into anyone helmet to helmet.

There's a lot of tough players in the NFL, but how convenient for the Ravens that the same player took out Tom Brady, Wes Welker, Ron Gronkowski and Stephen Ridley.

Eh, don't buy it. Took Brady and Welker out for the season. Took Gronkowski out of the AFC Title Game and Super Bowl. Took Ridley out of the AFC Title game. A bit too convenient, wouldn't ya say?

And he didn't "happen to fall on Gronkowski's ankle". He grabbed his leg and practically twisted it after he was down. Granted, Gronk was already hurt by that point, but it was still an unnecessary move. Watch video above.

Your a HOMER and I understand that. IMO the closest to a "dirty" hit was the one on Brady but he was also being blocked into him. The others were football plays and I never seen "intent" to injure someone. It just happens that these plays were against NE. Just coincedence if you ask me. On the Ridley play Ridley is like 5'8" Pollard is 6'2"
Pollard went low to takle him and Ridley went low. Its going to happen. In that instance you tell me how Pollard was supposed to tackle him? Ravens a team of thugs? really? How so? Because they are a physical team? Pleeeease.

Just because someone gets injured and is out for the season doesn't mean the injurer is intending to hurt the player.

Here the injury probably wouldn't have happened if Brady didn't step forward a couple of times. This hit doesn't look intentional.

After watching this several times, it certainly doesn't look like he intended to hurt him. As I said, to me it looks like Welker suffered the injury when he planted his leg in the ground.

For this hit to Gronkowski, watch around the :40 point in the video, and the injury clearly happened when Pollard was falling down while making the tackle. Also, if wrapping his legs up is what caused the injury (which I'm not saying is the case), then how else should Pollard have tackled him? There's a handful of people across the league in which you have to tackle low due to their strength, size and power. Gronkowski is one of those players. The entire Ravens defense was probably told to tackle him by the legs because if you tackle him high, he'll just bounce off of the tackle.

For this one, Pollard might have intended to do it, I can't 100% tell, but it looks like he tried to lead with his shoulder, as the rules state. The helmet to helmet happens when Ridley puts his head down, so it's kind of hard to assume that Pollard intended for the hit to happen, when he moved his body away from Ridley's head.

In all of these videos, I find it hard to say that Pollard was intending to hurt these players. Yes, he plays with a physicality that might be frowned upon by the NFL these days, but that doesn't mean he is a dirty player who tries to injury people. Now someone like Ndamukung Suh I could make a different case for...

Well, Ray Lewis may have killed someone. And they have more than 1 player with a big mouth who talk trash out in public about other teams. To me, that's being a thug.

As for Pollard:

-Tom Brady wins MVP in 2007, sets single season record for most touchdown passes. First game of 2008, Pollard takes out his knee. Done for season.
-Wes Welker leads the league in receptions and yardage in 2009. 2 weeks before Playoffs, Pollard takes out his knee. Done for season.
-Rob Gronkowski sets record for most TD catches by a tight end in 2011. In AFC Title game, Pollard rolls up his leg, craps out Gronk's ankle. Done for game, and only has 1 catch in Super Bowl.
-Stephen Ridley running with the ball on a drive that the Pats had going early in the 4th quarter of the 2012 AFC Title Game. Pollard runs into him head first, knocks him out, Ravens recover. Ridley is done for game.

Either he's doing it intentionally, or he doesn't know how to play his position very well. Defenses are trained to be physical, but not hurt people on purpose. Unless you play for the Saints of course.

And yes, I'm bias as a Pats fan, but I have no problem admitting what Brady did to Ed Reed was crap and he deserved to be fined. I hate any player in the NFL who plays dirty. It's a dangerous game as is. Adding dirty hits just makes it that much more so.

I edited this post as we really don't know for sure about Ray Lewis. We know he was in a brawl in a nightclub and we know he lied to police. To me, that's enough to make him a thug.

You know what....I agree with you on the Lewis thing. Weather he did it or not....we will never know but even if he didnt he was with who robably did and that makes him guilty by association....good enough for me. Now what I will say is....What have you done with your life since then? We all have made mistakes...some bigger then others but mistakes none the less. Honestly he has turned his life 180 degrees. You may not see what he has done in this community but I will tell you he has probably has done mors in this community then any othe professional athelete........ever! It isnt where you have been its where you are going. Thank goodness I am not judged on the mistakes I made when I was 25.How about you?

You have a point. Not being from the same community, I have no idea what he does for local charities. And if he does do a lot, then good for him. It's one of the reasons I'm such a big Bon Jovi fan. The man gives more of his time and money than any other celebrity I know of to local charities. Of course we all make mistakes. I just have a sore spot for celebs who get away with them because they have money.

I think all celebs should do good in their community if they have the ability to do so. I'm not wealthy but I'll never refuse to give money to Easter Seals or St. Jude's when asked at a cash register. I'll never not help a handicapped person who needs help. I could do a lot more (and should), but if we all just did something, the world would be a much better place.

Back to Lewis, again, I don't hear anything about his charity work not being from the area. Brady is like that as well. Gives much time to local charities, but no one outside of New England sees that. So, if he's doing right with his fame and helping those less fortunate, I'll give the guy a break for his past stupidity. As you said, I sure as hell wouldn't want to be judged by the dumb things I did when I was younger.
