The funny thing is.. in the prior game the Fox panel noted how Jim H. always eludes them for post-game interviews as well. The difference is in how they do it. Watching Bill's post game press conference was classic Bill. Give nothing..

Difference is Jim does not gloat when he wins. BillBumacheck does and then disappears when he loses.

I wouldn't call it 'rightfully so' - Disney avoided him because they avoid controversy.. not because they support someone or not. They are risk-adverse.

1 - he isn't going to win MVP in any possible way
2 - I guess people still don't know the difference between 'accused' and 'convicted'

Ben nor Ray were convicted of any crime. But yes I say "rightfully so" because if I'm Disney I don't want a "possible" murderer or "possible" rapist celebrated in a parade during their time of controversy. So they rightfully avoided controversy.

Ray Lewis has won MVP before so thats why I asked. And I agree 100% that they aren't "for or against" Ray Lewis but want to avoid controversy. I'm not saying that that wouldn't avoid Ben for the same reason. It could be any team! But Ray Lewis was the only MVP who was not asked for the parade - has nothing to do with his team or anything. Yikes. Didn't know you took it so personally. Is Ray a close personal friend or something?

My question is just - Do you think they will do it again IF he wins MVP...even though his controversy was so many years ago?

I don't think he gloats. He is his same.. direct.. boring.. offer you nothing self.

Did you see the pre game Marino v Brady when Dan asked Brady if Belichick ever jokes or smiles and he said "Nope he always looks miserable." Well at least now you can't blame him for being miserable. Haha!

Ray was convicted - he plead down to an obstruction of justice charge and testified against the other guys in the case (who also were acquitted). Lewis never faced trial because of the plea bargain and was never really in question in the murder itself.. but because they left the scene, supposedly said don't talk about it, and wasn't clear with the police afterwards.. in effect he broke the law in participating in avoiding/covering it up. Of course at the time, they had no idea the guys would die.. but all of that is why Lewis took the plea deal and testified. Lewis was scared of his career being ended by the actions of those around him and panic'd.

In the pure hypothetical - they would do the ad I think. It's completely different than in 2000 when the season started with the trial still fresh in everyone's mind from the summer.

Contrast that with now.. 13 years later.. with an entire history of who he is, what he supports and represents, etc, between then an now.

I think it's a pretty meaningless question given the likelyhood of it happening and the history between then and now.

Exactly. Thank you. This is all I was wondering. With all the progress he has made with his image and such years later - do you think Disney would change their mind. I understand it's a far off chance but just him being the only MVP not asked and now the possibility of it happening again - just a question. Thought this was a public board where we could all post our questions....

No
as I stated earlier - I don't think they avoided Ray Lewis - they avoided controversy.

Now that there is no controversy - there is nothing to avoid. Simple as that.
I agree. Most of us young people don't even remember the controversy; we only know what we've read. Given how religious Lewis is, he probably didn't kill anyone. But still, I think that the honor should be given to Flacco if the Ravens win.

So that Ray Lewis retirement billboard? It wasn't very nice. So in Baltimore, we put up our own billboard...

No word on who is behind this

Moving away from Super Bowl news now...

Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson and Eli Manning are all in the Pro Bowl now.

Manning replacing Aaron Rodgers (ankle and calf injury that he's been taking injections before games for)
Wilson replacing Matt Ryan (shoulder injury in championship)
Luck replacing Tom Brady (no apparent reason)

Also one of my Packers, Josh Sitton, is replacing Mike Iupati in the Pro Bowl. Nothing to really brag about there, though.

I kind of wonder how much longer the pro bowl has.

I think this will be the last year. It's nothing anyone wants to travel to go see, and it just puts the players at risk. The rules are changed so much that the defenses can't even play anymore. Some of the perennial Pro Bowlers have even said it's pointless and while they are honored, they wouldn't mind seeing it go away. It'd still be nice if there was an honorary voting every year for the fans. I enjoy voting on the Pro Bowl every year, and no I do not bandwagon like most fans. While RGIII had a very good season, Drew Brees deserved that spot more.

They should just have like a skills challenge like the NHL has...but football stuff.

Who can throw the farthest?

Who can kick the farthest field goal?

Who is the fastest?

And then they can still be honored and all but without the boring game.

They actually used to do this along with the Pro Bowl. I'm watching the competition from 2005 on NFL Network right now.

The other post inspired me to ask this: Who is the best in these categories?

Arm strength, accuracy, throw on the run, speed, power back, best hands, blocker, cover corner, ball hawk, pass rusher, leg strength, kicking accuracy and football smarts.

Mine are...

Arm strength- Joe Flacco
Accuracy- Drew Brees
Throw on the Run- Aaron Rodgers
Speed- Chris Johnson
Power Back- Michael Turner
Best hands- Calvin Johnson
Blocker- Joe Thomas
Cover corner- Darrelle Revis or Jonathan Joseph (for non-injured)
Ball hawk- Charles Tillman
Pass rushers- Clay Matthews/JJ Watt/Aldon Smith
Leg strength- Sebastian Janikowski
Kicking accuracy- Blair Walsh
Football Smarts- Peyton Manning

Was at the supermarket today and noticed Tim Tebow has his very own 2013 calendar out. Not kidding.

So let me get this straight:
0 touchdowns
6 completions
39 passing yards
102 rushing yards...

and you get your very own calendar? o_O

How does that man do it?
