Hello,

My Family will be going to Disney on New Year;s Eve. We want to see the Fireworks from Magic Kingdom, but from one of the Monorail Resorts. I was wondering from experience which resort is best to watch from. As of right now we have our stay booked at Poly with the plan to watch from the beach. I didn't know if Contemporary had a viewing spot for resort guest to go to as I have been thinking to change to there. If anyone has watch from any of the 3 hotels and could give me advice, tips, ideas that would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

Poly would be head on, so probably better.

Also be aware that usually the Poly and GF beaches are restricted to resort guests on special nights, which would include NYE.

If you have a reservation at the Cali Grill you could watch from the viewing area. Or you can watch from the Contemporary 4th floor viewing area, but I imagine that will be packed -it's not big.

Typically the front lawn at the contemporary is a popular place for viewing. ( NYE that is) Of course the display is very spectacular with some fireworks being launched from non traditional locations. Example- facing the bus depots at MK from the contemporary looking to the left there is some small patches of woods. Some come shooting up out of there, at some points they are so bright it is almost like daytime.

The Poly is the best, but not by the pool which is where most people watching at the Poly seem to congregate. The beach right next to the TTC gives you a perfect straight on view of the castle.

Having seen that show many, many times a couple of thoughts.

- If you happen to also be there on 12/30, Magic Kingdom actually does their full NYE show on both 12/30 & 12/31 so you'd have 2 chances to see it. Many see that one on the 30th and then Epcot on the 31st.
- Since the show uses the mirror launch location in the middle of Seven Seas Lagoon, watching from the Contemporary, even a tower room which I've done isn't all that great a view for the whole show. The launch locations are much farther apart than many realize and it looks like you're watching 3 different show happening near each other. The one part that is really amazing from there is the 360 perimeter, but that's only in the end of the show.
- Poly Beach is absolutely amazing. They have the barges from the Electrical Water pageant out on the lagoon playing the soundtrack for the show so you get the music. The relative locations of the launch locations are more stacked one behind the other from that vantage point as well which I find more pleasing. Also, if you're staying there you can just walk back to your room after. The congestion in transportation after that show is hard to describe.
- If the main Poly beach gets too congested -and it can- try walking over toward Luaua cove right in front of the venue for the Polynesian Luau. Much quieter and far fewer people at that location. You still see the whole show but a little less chaos.

I'll take a stab at it. ;)

I second this. When we stayed at Poly on our honeymoon in 2016, we would watch the fireworks from this location every night. Great spot and no crowds like you get over near the volcano pool end of the beach.
Here's the perspective to MK from there:

During some of the big 360 shows you have to be cautious about this location. Since a 360 show requires that all boat traffic on the lagoon be stopped, all of the boats including all of the 'party' boats, the 'harbor patrol', ferries, and everything else on the water will be moved to this area and the area over between Poly and the Wedding Pavilion. You'll be surprised how many boats that means. They don't block the fireworks in the air, but it can be a lot of boats during the show.
