Simply an attempt to hide the attendance numbers. You know how closely they guard thoseThe 'Disney uneducated' always refer to Magic Kingdom as 'Disney World' so perhaps Disney wanted to stop this and removed 'WDW' from the sign
Could be worse than that. It could say: Sponsored by GeicoHey, it could be worse!
I like the old one better
Not over dramatic one bitWow. Absolutely hate the new sign. Not trying to sound over dramatic but I am shocked. I think this finally put me over the edge.
Yes it wasWas the park officially called "The Magic Kingdom" at one point?
They also changed the curtains so you can barely see the writing on the window.
you're very polite. I was thinking cheap, tacky and a few words which can't be said on a family friendly site. It's so generic now...
October 1st 1971:Was the park officially called "The Magic Kingdom" at one point?
It could be even worse -- there could be a gecko with a speech bubble saying "Fifteen minutes could save you fifteen percent or more on your car insurance" right alongside the sign.Could be worse than that. It could say: Sponsored by Geico
I've always read it as the official sign of the park -- the railroad station apparently doesn't have an official name, being labeled on maps as "Walt Disney World® Railroad" at this and the other two stations.I think you perfectly summed up these forums with that statement.
I feel I'm always going contrarian, but I like it just a tad more than the original.
As a train station, the word "the" is seldom used in naming, I'm having a hard time thinking of one. Granted, the name is for the park, but the sign is tied to the station itself.
My guess: one or more of the suits got confused, since the Magic Kingdom is marked "Magic Kingdom" on all the official paperwork. When they saw the sign saying "The Magic Kingdom," their brilliantly focused intellects couldn't handle the dissonance. And it had the added benefit of saving money by leaving off the extraneous lettering.I guess having "The" missing doesn't make too much of a difference for me.
It was, however, est. in 1972.
Um, yes I know and that is what the sign says. I apologize for the typo! I will correct it.Um, The Magic Kingdom opened on October 1, 1971.
