Remember when you could go to Sears and get family portraits on the cheap?

Glad to see the apologists are out in force. These are NOT professional photographers.
People being paid to be photographers are not professional photographers now?

Do you mean the people at sears and JC penny's who took the photos were pro's and these people are still on the amateur circuit? The guys who go to schools to and snap out of focus head shots of kids for a living are part of the Pro Photo guild but these people, who service you have never used and you have no idea whatsoever of the equipment they are using and skill level aren't "professional" enough for you?

A friend had their photos taken at the Polynesian with this service – I think maybe as a cast preview or backstage magic prize maybe - and there were still people and a stroller in the background in one of the photos. So I’m not entirely sure what kind of “retouching“ the photos have done to them. Unless they mean, like, blemishes or something.

The magic eraser on my Samsung can get rid of those people. I could use an extra $400

Some actually come from a different division, Disney fine art photography. Some of them are photopass.
How does that work? Is that a pay increase for one group and a pay decrease for the other? Or are they all getting the fine art photography rate? Or were they all approximately the same as it was?

I imagine it’s “show up and be happy doing it or you’ll be the next up in the latest round of cuts”

$400 for 40 minutes? 😂 😂 😂 😂

It damn well better be an actual professional photographer, not the intern who takes pictures on Main Street USA.
$400 for 40 minutes is quite a normal going rate for this sort of thing. I paid $500 for my graduation shoot that was less than an hour with no touch ups.

I’m not rushing to do this at WDW, but when was the last time you all used a private photographer, if ever? This price should not be shocking.

Hell, I paid $250 just to get my audition headshots done.

Huh…what?

Thought you lived in Nashville? And audition shots? Say what?!?

The interesting one I saw on Facebook was of photographers that do shoots on property but not in the parks. Made me realize Disney doesn't have any resort-area Photopass services available (unless I'm blanking). But feels like it could be a profitable opportunity for Disney to offer (not on demand but reservation-based similar to the Capture Your Moment offerings)
Every single person on this forum probably could've called this, but umm yea I called it. Boom. Hire me Disney I have great ideas
