New Resort Credit Card Hold Policy

I just happened to read about this today. A new policy at WDW will take effect on Feb. 27 where, if you want to attach a credit card to your room/Magic Band, an incremental hold of reservation balance due plus $100 for incidentals will be placed on your card. Any further accumulation of incidental charges will result in further incremental holds. Apparently this is a standard practice at most hotels and resorts, but my question is if one incidental charge, eg a TS meal charge, puts you over the first $100, does the next hold kick in automatically, or is there some time between increments? Has anyone else experienced this at other hotels before?

I've experienced this at several hotels, but most notably on cruises. It's one of the things they warn you about on cruises because it can be a problem for people who use a debt card because there are sometimes overlapping holds.
