News New Polynesian Resort DVC villas building to open 2024

No matter how they dress the outside of this building it will never fit into the style of the existing resort...there was zero attempt at making it fit from the beginning...which is a shame. Bay Lake Tower at least includes some nods to the main resort building...and as much as it doesn't match (which it should have) it doesn't feel at odds... The renderings which I am sure are nicer than what will be completed, don't feel or look like any of the rest of the resort. It would be nice to see some more renderings to help explain what is going there, interiors etc...
I'm curious to hear your opinion on whether you think this new building fits well next to the existing resort... I'm not sure anyone has ever heard your opinion on this previously, so could you help clear that up for us?

Saw the ‘Polyday Inn’ yesterday in person close up, and from several different vantage points.
Not happy about how intrusive it is…it is worse in person when you can see the scale of this within the actual setting.
Just a awful decision.

Sorry, I am not a fan.

No matter how they decorate the outside, it will always be the eyesore it is.

No matter what the exterior finishes end up being…

Potentially a lockout two bedroom here, a studio + lockout one bedroom.

One thing to note is that the one bedroom part has two full bathrooms similar to Bay Lake Tower and AKL Kidani. That second bathroom is in green.

The primary bathroom is in purple. Looks like the toilet is in its own compartment with a door. The tub is what you'd first see entering the bathroom with a walk in shower on the left (tub centered between shower and toilet room). Can't tell if double vanity but because I don't otherwise see a closet, maybe thats one vanity and one closet.

Looks like a galley style kitchen (yellow).

I'm trying to understand the locked off studio here. Looks like a walk in shower and toilet room but top part is difficult to decipher. Also, unclear on closet space so maybe not interpreting all correctly.

Yellow at the bottom is a smaller room than others, depth wise. Could be like a VDH "duo" or Riviera "tower studio."

Blue above that looks like a studio with one bathroom and not 1.5 like the longhouse studios. But it seems different than in other photo with a potential bath, so either different style studios available (like CCV?) or I'm misreading.

Red reminds of a dedicated one bedroom.

Not sure what to make of the green part as bathroom style here looks different than other bathroom style. Maybe a takeaway is to *not* put too much into a particular bathroom layout at this time, if maybe different configurations are drawn in.

If anything can be confirmed from drawings it appears that they'll have an extra full bathroom in larger units, something many love about BLT and Kidani.

All this could be for nothing with just random stuff drawn in, but it was at least fun to think about.

A new South Florida Water Management permit was filed today for de-watering to allow for the pool area construction. Permit itself is not that interesting but it does provide a more detailed plan of the building. Full document is here:

Thanks for posting that since I don't think I've read anything so far about what the plan was for parking or expanding the Polynesian parking lot and I wondered about the impact on the existing GF Villas and Wedding Pavilion parking lots. Looks like ~ 160 new spots in a dedicated lot.

I still wonder if they're building a dedicated Polynesian gym in the Polyday Inn building, or if the GF gym will now serve 3 resorts. Anybody know?

Sorry Disney, but the Brutalist style will never fit in with a Polynesian styled resort. NEVER.

You understand they're not going to open it as just bare concrete, right?

It's still not a well-designed hotel nor does it fit with the rest of the Polynesian (at least based on the concept art), but all anyone is seeing right now is the underlying structural elements. It's not a reflection of what it will look like when it's actually open and operating.

While it will be finished, the general form of the resort will largely follow what we currently see.
