I tried getting a FP+ for my upcoming trip. Some days, as I expected, are sold out. But others say "closed for refurbishment". Forgive my ignorance, but is the show not every night?

I saw the preview from an obstructed view -- it's nothing to write home about. To me, all of the tree shows are better, in terms of expectation and delivery. It did feel a bit empty, and the poor shaman really don't do anything. I wish there were more amphitheater effects like in WoC, like fountains in planters and color-changing lighting.

The lotus projections are the best thing about the show, and they're quite incredible. I also bought a Lotus Totem wand and it plays along really really well with the show. Otherwise, it really needs the lanterns. Badly. Disney knows how to do fire by now, seeing Fantasmic, WoC, and Star Wars, and the final fire tower does not only seem random, but also a little ugly and unimpressive in terms of fire power.

They were playing the "Disney" version of the tree show on repeat at the end of the night as people left, and I think that's a good move as I find it more stirring than RoL, and I'm a huge IllumiNations fan. It's not "bad", it's just, like, watching the Fountain of Nations or something else you wouldn't necessarily get a fastpss for.

I'm going again tonight and will grab some pics. I'm not quite a Pixie Duster but not quite the other side either. Honestly, after all the waiting and delays, at the end of the show I just said to myself "that's it?" The animals and the lotus' were stunning. The show lacked something though and it felt as if there was a lack of flow as well. People wanted to clap at times but didn't know if it was the right moment etc. The biggest drawback is that it lacks a grand finale of some sort. Maybe as time progresses, the show will be tweaked a bit.

Frankly, YOU need to see it for yourself. I would absolutely recommend anyone heading to AK to give it a chance. Videos and pics are great but obviously do not give you the full experience. Everyone's tastes vary. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I definitely felt very "meh" after seeing it. Then again, I go crazy for MSEP. Personally, I wouldn't go see it every time I was at AK.

I also saw the show yesterday. I liked it, especially the lotus projections where crystal clear and the way the barges move in syncronisation is very cool. I was a bit dissapointed with the fire effects, as they where pretty small. And it's not as spectacular as World of Color which I love. Overall I think it's a solid addition to Animal Kingdom but I do think they have to look at adding more effects to the show where they can. Maybe even add more lotus flowers.

My iPhone background is Rivers of Light, my computer background is Rivers of Light, the soundtrack is blasting when I shower, and I cannot wait to get my hands on one of those shirts!! Such a beautiful show! It was worth the wait :p
Wait. Don't tell me you watch the video before you saw it in person?

Do you guys think adding more fire to the show would be feasible? Maybe in the lotus barges? Cause the fire tower didn't seem to be working very well on either presentations...

I'll take it as it is, it's an abstract fountain show with projections, lights and lanterns, I'll put it on the same level as illuminations 25 or even tapestry of nations but since it's a brand new show that haven't replaced anything I like it.

I can see the show being.... added to. Here and there.

Orders were it HAD to open and run reliably before Avland. And possibly try to fix any perceived issues afterwards.

Interesting and seemingly in agreement social media postings today. Consensus is that it's nice and pretty and worth doing once.... but that's all.

That's from both personal posts and blog sites.

Slightly worrying.

So my thought is, it seems like a good base. Let's remember it is an ALL-NEW thing, not a replacement or a repurposing,
and so that is a win. We rightfully complain about those things all the time.

As time goes on, they can plus, add, reconfigure, enhance, all that.

It is disappointing for Disney to debut a new show that comes off as "pretty good", "worth doing once",
but given time, it can become the thing it should be, don't you think?

Perhaps I am a naive optimist.

This is TWDC. It's DAK. This thread is three years four months old alone.

It should be a home win. The second coming. Not a good base.

Imagine if RoE had debuted to so many mixed reviews and a consensus of average?

Don't get me wrong. I'm on record here as saying the park needs this show and needs this show to be spectacular. I hoped it would be. And hope it can be.

To be fair, Martin, in 1999, not everyone was on social media, so quick to be the first to praise or criticize. :)
