News New Haunted Mansion Grounds Expansion, Retail Shop Coming to Disneyland Resort in 2024

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
In what other areas do you think it is appropriate to misattribute causes? Would you say it’s pointless to correct someone who claimed Disneyland was inspired by Six Flags Over Texas?

For those of us just looking for pics, videos, and first-hand reviews, none of this back and forth is interesting, informative, or pertinent.
Can we please just move on?

And as I've said now numerous times I could be wrong. Also please note that I'm in no way trying to denigrate what is obviously something you have at least a passion for if not a direct knowledge due to professional usage.

Your assertion is that there is nothing in the code that governs the decisions to why it was built as large as it was, is it possible that you could be wrong? I mean even just a little? My issue has been that you don't leave open not even a possibility that you could be wrong. I at least leave open that possibility in all my discussions, because maybe there is something I don't know even if I am an expert in said discussion (not saying I am in this case).

The building I assume is classified under Group M occupancy. So the question is if there is something in the codes that has a greater than 7'6" ceiling requirement under that group.
If you went to visit a friend or family member in a city you’ve visited before, and on heading out to somewhere they said “Hey, turn around, you’re going the wrong way” would you immediately quip back “Maybe you’re wrong?”. Would you say “Maybe not?” at every turn? Would you continue to go on about how they could have been wrong even after giving your correct directions and getting you to your destination?

The question has been answered. There are ambiguous areas of the codes, and they come up with unique things like theme park attractions, but retail just isn’t really one of those areas. Group M is a very common and rather run-of-the-mill occupancy unless you’re selling something considered hazardous. The codes would be fairly useless if they were just a big mystery box and couldn’t provide determinative direction. The IBC codes are organized around buildings elements/components so there are not too many places to look. There is also the index that can be referenced, but California’s does fall short as misses California specific content. Run a page search on any chapter. It’s not hiding somewhere else.

I don’t find trip reports interesting but I’m not telling you to stop posting them. You’d be annoyed if people were posting fake pictures or bogus reviews.

There a multiple ways to get to a destination, just because you think you know the only way doesn't mean its the best or even the right way. Its only the arrogant person that thinks they know the only way to the destination.

Thank you for the information, though maybe do it with a bit less condescension next time. Not everyone is an expert in this field, some people want to actually learn with explanations rather than being told to go lookup a bunch of codes. If you're going to come in here anyways and correct people when they say something about building codes (something no one asked you to do) then might as well use it as a teaching opportunity.

Well, it’s not full-on comparable to the rest of the attraction but it’s a better than the old emergency exit hallway.
It’s like they ran out of money as they went on. The first hallway is really nice with the lightning effects and the bell board. Then the stairwell room is too bright, and should have had wallpaper instead of white walls, but still has a nice looking staircase with the crow on the newel post. But then you get into the elevator and it’s just a standard gray fake wood panel elevator that every new building has. It’s jarring.

It’s true, some designers are simply better than others. But I think the bigger problem is when edicts come down from corporate. Uninspired directives won’t turn out very well no matter who designs them.

I agree to an extent but a savvier more experienced team would know how to implement some creative work arounds and not deliver the bland uninspired mess that is TBA. Half of us here could have written a better story than what they ended up with and my guess is many on the team probably tried. Probably too many cooks in the kitchen as well as inexperienced and/ or stubborn creative leads.

Yeah, the (IMO) wildly inconsistent outcomes for recent projects can certainly be traced back to the wisdom of directives from corporate as well as the level of experience/talent of the creative team. Perhaps that's incredibly obvious, but it's on my mind because we seem to be getting the best of both worlds (Treehouse; Mansion queue; Tropical Hideaway; Rise) with some projects and then the worst (Tiana's; Web-Slingers) with others. I'd be shocked to learn experienced Imagineers worked on Tiana's, or that the Mansion queue was brought to life by recent Disney College Program grads. I didn't used to feel this way about new WDI projects (unsure whether they will turn out wonderful or disastrous).

As much as I loved Magnolia Park I’d have to agree. FB is calling it Magnolia Court now. I think I’ll run with that over NOS Train Station entry plaza lol.

Magnolia Court. I like that.

Anyway is the park/ court itself as nice as it was? No IMO but it’s much more functional and they added some nice features. The extended HM queue and what’s left of MP feel classy and it fits in with the rest of the land as if it’s always been there.

Completely agree. I won't pretend the space is as beautiful as it used to be. But it's a very pleasant, aesthetically-pleasing little area, perfect for taking a quick breather -- and we know it could've turned out much, much worse.

I was wondering about the music. They’ll have to turn it down. Especially since the band at Tiana’s is so close. Then again I’m still confused on why I can’t hear music at Hungry Bear- not that I have a problem with it. Hahah.

Now that I’ve seen how they re using that band they should have just left that stage alone and behind a planter. Now people are either clogging up the area watching the band or passing by and only seeing their backsides.

We'll have to see what happens long-term, with both the volume of the music and the usage of the stage. I haven't seen the stage in action but I agree that it's potentially awkward. I have to imagine within a short while they'll turn down the spooky music.

I think it’s just a case of having bigger fish to fry. You are a super fan and only recently noticed so I doubt it was a high priority for them. I wouldn’t take it as any sort of sign that the hanging man is safe.

I'm bracing for the worst.

Anyway, snapped a screenshot of the hanging skeleton. To your point, I had to go through like 5 POVs before I found one that lingered on the effect. I'm going to assume very few guests notice this.

love the the que and exit, glad they put in this work for a major infastructure upgrade to HM, both for quests and people working on the ride.
