Live stream of queue
My gosh, the queue BG music is just awesome. I know for a fact I would have been terrified as a kid approaching the mansion with all that eerie music.

Could do without all those colorful crystal balls.
Madame Leota’s enchanted garden is alive with mystical energy—frogs, lizards, and even a cymbal-playing monkey seem frozen in her spell. Her courtyard oak tree is adorned with fortune-telling orbs, chimes, and bells that tinkle in the wind.
The inner courtyard is Madame Leota's garden, hence the crystal balls.

New queue looks kick-a**. Only a few minor sightline issues on the berm that will hopefully be addressed with time (it looks like that area isn't quite finished yet). But otherwise I am very excited to be waiting in line, lol.

no love for btmrr? I love that que. Also shout out to TBAI’d say it looks like the most “pleasant” queue in the park now. Indiana Jones is still all around king. Followed by ROTR if you count star destroyer hangar on as queue which makes sense. Then it’s probably a toss up between HM and MMRR for next best queue. I’ll give the tie breaker to MMRR since HM’s queue being pleasant will be dependent on good weather. Roger Rabbit gets 5th place.

Winnie the Pooh, Smuggler's Run, Star Tours, and Jungle Cruise have fantastic queues as well. Also TBA and Big Thunder as J4546 stated. You really don't see the Courtesy behind staffing somebody to interact with guests and explain to them what the big closed building is?
He looks fine and he's performing his role.
If a Guest walks up to him, he will interact with them
This has always been a position at closed shops and attractions. If the store were open, he'd be inside working.
Dudes standing there looking fine, out of the pathways, easy to see and able to answer any questions if anyone has them about this brand new structure. You sound like an absolute miserable person, Someone who looks for things to be mad about, someone who just uses social media to complain about stuff. Its weird and cringeyThat would be cute if that was what he was actually doing. Instead, he was hiding in the corner, wearing sunglasses in the shade, and avoiding any contact with others.
He's not performing any role. He's hiding behind the corner, trying to avoid contact, and taking a little mental nap. Probably just watching the girls go by, at about $20 an hour.

And I can only imagine the elaborate backstory he will pull them into when they ask where the restroom is. Although there are two gift shop CM's already working a few feet away from him at that merchandise kiosk.
In short.... No, that is incorrect. This has not "always been a position at closed shops and attractions". At least not at Disneyland. This is the Disneyland forum, remember, not the WDW side.
At Disneyland, when even major E Ticket attractions close for refurbishment or are not yet open during their construction phase, they don't staff CM's to tell people its closed. Instead, for decades, they put up a plywood wall or green scrim or fabric covered metal barricades and set out a sign that says the ride is closed. And as TDA doesn't staff those CM's for even major E Tickets, they certainly don't staff them for closed gift shops.
So why are they staffing a ride operator to hide behind the corner of a gift shop to wait to be seen and approached?

you must be a stunningly remarkable well kept and good looking person lol...or a jackass. one or the other.
The two days I was there last week there was always 1 or more CM's standing there. I could be wrong, but it looked like they were trying keep people from going back there behind the cart. For what reason, I'm not sure.It gives me a good chuckle thinking how and why that kid got told to stand there in the corner!
