Checking in on that new Best Buy gift shop they built at the exit...

This looks fine. Right? It's totally in scale, if your scale is a big box store in a sea of parking lots. Who needs to see the 3 story mansion when you could see this one story gift shop that is nearly the same size as the three story mansion?

I also love that TDA has staffed a $20 an hour Haunted Mansion butler er... host....um... "friend" to lean up against the corner and help support the new structure until the glue dries.

But seriously, what does this kid do? What's his purpose? What is his role in this immersive story he's telling us?

I'd like to think he's the roommate of Ky'le From Tustin who works just over the berm in Star Wars Land. And they carpool. And he's just hangin' out there, supporting the new gift shop at $20 an hour, thinking of that killer keg party he and Ky'le are throwing Thanksgiving weekend after he racks up that sweet overtime pay from all his Closed Gift Shop Support shifts.

This isn’t that though, is it?
I mean it certainly seems that way based on the setup.

I guess we'll see how it works when they actually have a band up there. But I can't imagine them having the band only play to one side for entire sets, maybe they switch back and forth for each song. I imagine it sort of like a central town gazebo where the towns folk sits around it and any entertainment sort of plays to all sides. And with stairs on both sides seems to indicate to me that there might even be crowd work from either side. Otherwise they could have just left the stairs only on the Tiana side, have the band enter from that side, and have the band play out to the Park for those performances.

I think the guy is Haunted Mansion Secret Service. He is looking for that 1000th ghost.

I'll go check it out in a bit. About to board storybook. If you guys want me to take some more pics I can.

Pics of the stage?

Storybookland Canal boats have really grown on me. If you would have asked me the preferred way to experience Storybookland a few years ago I would have emphatically said Casey Jr but not anymore. And apparently they do some Christmas decorations too? Never been on it during the holidays I guess.

Lol I honestly can’t tell if he’s trolling. Comparing the situation I described to a 360 stage?
Not trolling, I’m being serious, I really don’t think they are going to have you stare at basically the bands butts for their entire set if you’re out in the Park. I mean I guess they can but that would be odd just like you said.

So that is why I’m equating it to a 360 stage or a “theater in the round” situation where I think they will have the band playing to both sides during their sets.

I mean I guess if half the band was facing each side that would work. It would be equally as weird for Tiana’s Palace guests to be staring to at butts.

Yes! The miniatures have Christmas decorations. I loved it.

I meant pics of the gift shop. I'll get there eventually. The Mark Twain was boarding so I hopped on and now Pirates is low wait so I got enticed to ride that again lol.

Yesterday I did all the big stuff and today I'm trying to pick up the small stuff I didn't do yesterday. I wanna check out the new shops as I haven't yet.

Exactly my point, it’s why it makes sense to have them playing to both sides as not to leave out either side and getting an awkward view.

Geez, leaning on stage and with their hands in their pockets. When I worked attractions, I'd of gotten a verbal/written warning from the NOCC team or possibly been fired for using that kind of body language too often "on stage". Hard to believe that was just over a decade ago.

Yeah, I was amazed by some of the scruffy-faced CM's with shirts untucked looking like they just rolled out of bed in their uniform. Standards have fallen. Too bad prices haven't.
