New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

That’s exactly what I plan on doing because this is a condition that I can’t deal with. I told them I would be happy to stand out in front of the line as long as a cast member can assist me, but like I said, even when I had DAS a cast, member could not assist me besides letting me go through, the lightning lane, which was very appreciated, but…… They don’t take documents for a reason and that’s just to deny you… I have tons of documentation and it is what it is. I’ll see if the cast members can help me if they can’t best believe I will be complaining about it.
You can complain all you want. You won't get anywhere, other than maybe thrown out of the park.

Well, no they never took documents. It's probably more due to the ADA provisions restricting what businesses can ask or what documents they can require regarding disabilities.

Taking documents now wouldn't broaden the scope of this new program; it would just ensure that the people who Disney currently deem eligible are in fact eligible.

In any event, if you try the accommodations they suggest maybe you can report back how it went.

This discussion has been going on for 6+ months here. You might want to catch up on the last 10,000+ posts about it. Your complaints will accomplish nothing.
All right, I was trying to be nice to you. I’m done talking to you have a magical day. I guarantee. I’ve been on this site longer and know a lot more than you do. Your obviously just trying to be some kind of way. Take care yourself.

OK sounds good. I definitely will.

Once Disney decided to charge for access to the Lightning Lanes, restricting the number of people who qualify for DAS was inevitable. There is a ton of discussion about the reasons, legal issues, etc. throughout this thread and the mods have made it clear that they do not want those issues rehashed.

It's incredibly difficult to lose access to a program that worked for you. Maybe someone with similar issues will see your posts and have some suggestions. Best of luck on your trip.

They don’t take documents because the law, as it stands now, says they can’t. It isn’t some ploy to deny people.

I believe they had to pay $25 million to the U.S. Treasury and invest $25 million into accessibility equipment.
It’s still a $50 million fine - but the DOT is offering $25 million as a credit if they spend it on certain things. If they don’t, they still owe the other $25. I’m hoping they go after the other lines next and continue to - this is a huge step in the right direction.

A complaint for an accessibility issue should not get anyone thrown out of a park. Just like sitting down in the front of a bus shouldn’t get anyone thrown off the bus.

The new DAS system is completely ridiculous…… It’s funny how they won’t let you give any documents… They never have before, but since it’s become so strict, you would think that now they’re checking peoples credentials to see if they’re not lying…… Instead they hire these people who have absolutely no idea how to diagnose any type of this order… And they just tell you no you don’t qualify… I have extreme anxiety and claustrophobia… I have documentation of I take medication and everything else… This uneducated woman who spoke with me told me that I just have to talk to a Disney cast member at the front of the line to make sure that I can come out and then go back into the line … And I said what if that cast member cannot assist me because even when I was using DAS for the last four years I still had a few complications so now that I’m not even using it how can I be assured that I’d be able to ask to leave the line when I need to She had no answer for that. This is completely ridiculous… This will probably be my last trip to Disney World.
The CMs are not diagnosing people. You are explaining WHY you can’t wait in a traditional queue.

Not to sound mean, but how is the LL queue any different for your needs? Many times you will still be packed in with people on both sides of you unable to see the exit. How do you deal in other areas of the park (bus, plane, etc)? Can you implement some strategies you use to cope with those situations? Also, are you traveling with anyone else? If so, that person can wait in the queue and you can meet them at the merge (go through the LL to meet up). If all else fails you do have the option to purchase LL.

What law is this… The one that they created… That’s great. Maybe they’ll give you a cupcake. Enjoy. I’m done with this.

See that’s where you’re wrong, which is exactly what an uneducated person about the system would say… You are supposed to have access to a return that is right at the entrance of the line. A lot of cast members don’t know about this because the cast members nowadays don’t care please be more informed before you make a statement

Dude, what are you talking about? Even with DAS you had to wait in a queue, it was just shorter, but many times could still be around 20min surrounded by strangers. I’m trying to help you think of options and alternatives to DAS. I also have a severe anxiety/panic attacks, which is why I was asking how you deal in other situations, maybe some of the coping methods you use there can help you in lines.

No, I’m extremely sorry about that. I was just getting frustrated with some people so I didn’t even read your response. Please forgive me I truly appreciate all the help and what not you have to understand that even in the lightning lane I have had to run out of the line because the ride has broken down. I’m just extremely close to phobic. There’s nothing I can do about it and I understand if no one gives a darn about it, but that’s just something I’m gonna have to deal with … I told him I would stand right out in front of the queue. I just can’t be in enclosed areas so I guess I’ll just have to not enjoy a lot of Disney World attractions anymore. Thank you for your help and stay magical.

They created it? Disney had no say in the creation of the ADA nor can they dictate to the Depart of Justice how it is interpreted or enforced.

I understand you are upset but businesses have not been allowed to ask for documentation in the US for ages and most will not even look at any if the person offers as there are too many legal issues. If enough people speak up who have disabilities, maybe Congress will alter the ADA or the DoJ will alter how they view it should be used.

So what did you do in the past with DAS and the LL? Are you traveling alone then and don’t have someone who can wait for you? Maybe you can explain at the ride entrance to the CM that you have severe anxiety and cannot wait surrounded by people and request a return time to sit there and wait? Not sure they will do it at every ride, but it’s worth a shot. Otherwise, I honestly would just purchase LL. We have gotten DAS in the past for my son, but I still purchased G+ (at that time) just to make it easier on all of us since I also have issues.

Oh dear god... you are NOT comparing this to Rosa Parks. Don't even try.
