Need help deciding where to stay in May 2015

Hello everyone! So I have a few decisions to make regarding my upcoming trip. Currently I am booked for a 1 bedroom villa at the Villas at Wilderness Lodge since there was limited availability at the time I booked. Since then they have announced that the Polynesian villas and bungalows will be opening april 1st, and if they aren't already booked, I am considering switching to a studio there when I can book on February 25th using my DVC points. However I have been going back and forth on what to do. Here is some more background information. There is only two of us traveling, and the other traveler has never stayed at a Disney resort so I definitely want to "wow" them. I have never stayed at a monorail resort (and have always dreamed of it) but I also LOVE the wilderness lodge and know it has those great disney details/theming to impress a first time traveler. Also, there will probably still be some construction going on at the Polynesian at the time which isn't ideal, but the convenience of the monorail sounds awesome. So here are my options.

1. Keep my one bedroom at VWL for extra space and because I know I will enjoy it.
2. Try to book a studio at Polynesian, and sacrifice space and possible noise for the monorail
3. Keep an eye on VGF and BLT and see if I can switch to a studio here if people move around their reservations for Polynesian ( I know this is very unlikely to happen)

Also if I modify my room only reservation through DVC do I lose dining reservations? It would be same dates, and travelers, just a different hotel.

I would stay with the nicer room at VWL. The monorail is not very convenient right now with chronic breakdowns and changes in service. I would not downgrade my room for the chance to deal with those operational issues and ongoing construction. The boat to MK from WL is still very convenient.

I agree with a lot of points by @ISTCNavigator57 If i were you, I'd stick to your VWL spot. Poly does sound enticing but I think I'd wait until some kinks are worked out first, monorail is more settled, and construction it the dust of it is settled. It seems like you love WL as do I so you're already ahead.

As much as I dream of staying at the Polynesian one day, I would stay at VWL too for all of the reasons DisneyPrincess5 and ISTCNavigator57 listed. You can enjoy the boat ride over to MK or to jump on the monorail. Enjoy your trip!

Anyone know how many studio rooms are available on the 25th? Switching may not be too easy.
