We’re staying at Wilderness Lodge. Youngest in our party is almost 13 and a night owl…no worries about kids staying awake for parks or shows…just the adults. 😉
Where would you fit HDD in these plans?

Monday- all day in parks

Tuesday- animal kingdom (closes at 6:00) resort evening or late show HDD?? I was planning on Tusker house for lunch but would skip that if we do HDD on this day.
ETA- realized HDD is closed Mon/ Tues so this option is out

Wednesday- all day in parks

Thursday- sleep in/ resort day/ early show HDD?? Epcot in evening

Friday - Magic Kingdom party day / HDD early show?? (we’d leave MK at 3:00) / hop to HS or Epcot if people are up for a last ride on guardians or RnR.

I’d do it on Tuesday.

I'd do Friday. On Wednesday full park day you risk being exhausted. On Thursday if you know you want to be at EPCOT in evening I think HDD is a time sink. You'd not get out of show until 5:45 and would then need to bus to front of Fort Wilderness to catch another bus to EPCOT, probably getting in to park around 6:30 and not leaving much park time. But I think that same schedule works well for your Friday when there's no pressure to get things done that night and anything you do is a "bonus." It also leaves option that any part of group that feels "done" can return to WL for resort time.

I’d agree that Friday is probably your better option. It’s a lovely boat over from MK and a nice end cap to the trip. Minnie van can pick you up at Pioneer Hall after if you’re rushing to the parks, so that’s an option.

Thank you for the feedback and ideas! Still have a few days to decide but leaning toward Thursday and just keeping the entire day a resort/ rest day. I saw that Epcot has an after hours party Thursday night and those guests can enter at 7:00 so we’ll avoid the park that evening.

The times I've gone to Hoop, it took a while to get back after the show. So- for me, I would tend to do a later how, then not expect to do anything else that night. (Though bonus if you are able to hit a park that night).
If your choice is between Thursday or Friday, I'd choose Thursday. Since Hoop is a hard reservation, I would not want to do it very late in the trip. The later in the trip, the greater odds someone will be tired or otherwise not feel up to it. Also good that Thursday is already a relax day.

Given the short duration of the trip, I would avoid it altogether.

Thursday would be a 100% no-go for me. Earliest show is at 4pm and lasts 2 hours. Generously let's say 40 minutes to get to Epcot, which closes at 9. Doesn't seem worth the effort for then roughly 2 hours in the park that evening.

I also wouldn't cut short parks time on Friday for hoop dee doo.

I’d happily give up a couple of hours at a park for HDDR. It’s great fun and the food is good - especially dessert.
