Disney Films Movie Sequel In DC
Mar 31, 2007

NBC4 - WASHINGTON -- People who venture near the White House, the National Mall and the Library of Congress over the next two weeks will have more to look at than cherry blossoms.

A Disney film crew is in the nation's capital filming scenes for the movie "National Treasure: Book of Secrets." The sequel to the 2004 blockbuster features all the stars from the original.

Nicholas Cage, Diane Kruger and John Voight are among the actors in the city for filming.

Executive producer Barry Waldman said filming of the original movie in 2004 went so well that additional time was budgeted for location shooting for the sequel.

The storyline has Cage trying to unravel the truth behind the 1865 assassination of President Abraham Lincoln by finding pages from assassin John Wilkes Booth's diary.

Filming continues in the District through April 16.

Release of the film is tentatively set for Dec. 21.

I can't wait for this movie! And I go to school in DC. I'll have to keep my eyes open!:sohappy:

Yep, there is shooting scheduled for Mt. Rushmore soon if it isn't already taken place. To be exact they are filming behind the faces inside or near the hall of records which is off limits to visitors. I'm curious what they have in mind for it.

I loved the first film- it was a fun, suspend all logical belief action adventure. I'm curious about this sequel though. What's mysterious about Lincoln's assassination? I've done a lot of reading on the subject, and there isn't a lot of "mystery" surrounding his death.

We've known for a while that this movie was going to be made and while exciting that they're really filming it now....how exactly is this WDW news?
