Oh god, the writer doesn't know her stuff, the park's opening day was July 18th.

Slide 7 was taken July 18th (not the 17th stated in the caption). The parade wasn't held during the press preview for logistic reasons, the focus was filming the ABC special live show.

Slide 9 and 19, come on, do we need some P.C. comments? Like the old editions of the National Geographic didn't have problems seen in today's light.,,,

Weird how there's a comment about cultural appropriation regarding totem polls but not about Swiss mountain climbers. Shame they also feel the need to criticize Disneyland's representation of Native Americans. I suppose giving such a struggling minority honest work is evil now.

Opening Day is July 18th, 1955. That is how Walt and his staff called it, the day the parked opened to the public, and sold tickets. The same day every other Disney park calls opening day,and celebrates it anniversary. it was also the date that the park celebrated its anniversary while Walt was alive.

Now, the Walt Disney Company decided in the 70's to switch the date to July 17th, Dedication Day, no one is 100% sure, the best reason those in charge at the time remember was the 17th was the preferred date for a media event, nothing more. Of course, Disney can celebrate on any day it wants to, even if it isn't historically correct.

Men work on a robotic cave man's shoulder to hide its mechanisms.

This would have been a World's Fair thing - not Disneyland, right?

Enlighten me

Iggy Azalea is a good example. She puts on the caricature of a Black person to sell her weak rhymes that people ghost write for her. And she benefits from it and makes millions and gets nominated for multiple Grammy’s (she has more Grammy nominations than 2Pac, not including posthumous ones... 2PAC). Meanwhile we have talented Black rappers who don’t have to put on a fake persona who are not getting the recognition they deserve.

That’s one example.
