I found this article today. The good news is that there will be a third Narnia movie, the bad news is that it will have a different director.

Briton to direct third Narnia film
Jun 21, 2007

Associated Press - British filmmaker Michael Apted will direct The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, the third instalment in the series, Disney Pictures and Walden Media have announced.

The second film in the series, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is set for release in 2008.

Apted's Narnia film is due in 2009. Both are follow-ups to 2005's successful The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe - based on the books by CS Lewis.

Returning cast members include Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes.

Apted, 66, is best known for his "... Up" series of documentaries, which chronicles the same group of a dozen Brits every seven years. The latest instalment, "49 Up", opened in 2006.

Apted was a researcher for the 1964 film that first profiled the group as seven-year-olds, and took over the directing task with the follow-up documentary.

Apted's films include the James Bond adventure The World Is Not Enough and the Loretta Lynn drama Coal Miner's Daughter.

His most recent documentary, The Power of the Game, about football, debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival last month.

Michael Apted's made his share of corporate crap (The World is Not Enough - Denise Richards as a nuclear scientist? Why not?) but he's not a hack, either. Coal Miner's Daughter, Gorillas in the Mist, Gorky Park, a few episodes of Rome...and Continental Divide. Anyone who can take John Belushi at the height of his gonzo anti-hero fame and make him a lovable, believable romantic lead can make anybody believe anything...

...except maybe Denise RIchards as a nuclear scientist.

With Dawn Treader being the third movie, it looks as though the movies are being released in the order in which they were published:

The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (1950)
Prince Caspian (1951)
The Voyage of Dawn Treader (1952)
The Silver Chair (1953)
The Horse and His Boy (1954)
The Magician's Nephew (1955)
The Last Battle (1956)

This is different than the order in which C.S. Lewis himself believed that the books should be read:

The Magician's Nephew
The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe
The Horse and His Boy
Prince Caspian
The Voyage of Dawn Treader
The Silver Chair
The Last Battle

That's interesting ... unless they are just not making a movie for The Magician's Nephew. In fact, that book didn't have much to do with any of the other books (especially the fact that Narnia didn't play a big part in it). The only character that reappears in the series is the professor in The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, and his part was clear enough without having the other lead-in story.

I think I'm the only person that ever hated those books =\
You're not alone. I had never read the books, but my problem with Narnia is the story. The film was well made, but the story was so bad it sunk the film. Yes, we get it. The white witch is the devil. Got it the first time.

you hate books you have not read?

Sorry, that's just hilarious to me. You would do well to not judge books by their movie versions.

Yeah I mean there are excellent books out there that have been turned into some seriously botched movies. I mean like I read the Sisters in Traveling Pants series and the movie like picked out like things that happend in the book! I mean so don't judge a book my it's movie. The only good ones I can think of are The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, and the Harry Potter movies! I mean I've found 9 outta 10 times books are better than the movie! Maybe they should just not make books into movies, they always mess them up!

I wasn't saying it was a bad book. I was saying it's a bad story. And the story came from the book, not the movie. Therefore, I blame the book for the crummy story. It all came across to me as "How do I put god into terms these Lord Of The Rings-loving Hippies will understand?", IMHO. (That's how it was told to me in a History Channel show as well.) I mean, the movie was well made as I said. The story was just too weak for me.

Plus Santa Claus giving kid's weapons to slay the devil. (Or "White Witch.") is pretty darn funny if you ask me.

"Here kids, grab a sword and start hacking away!"

But keep in mind that I love the MST3K episode "Santa Claus" and "Jack Frost, and I go around saying "Where's the SAMPO?", so you know why I think like that.

I never even heard of these books until the movie. Perhaps I born a little too close to when they were written. :veryconfu I only just recently went a bought a used copy from Half.com and I was quite surprised. I really enjoyed it. Mother can't take scary movies, and heard me gasp a few times. She got up and went into the other room. I'll have to read the book. DANG! This is how I got hooked on Harry Potter.

I've never seen any of the films, so I'm really wondering how they pertain to "WDW Parks News and Rumors". Perhaps the films are about the WDW Parks?
