My New Backlot Tour

Okay, this is my vision of the backlot tour after the trams are taking away. I think it would be cool to have a walking/theatre show on the making of movies. My concept would focus around James Cameron and his new movie coming out in december 2009; Avatar. Avatar is science fiction adventure film with an enviormental message that looks like it will be a huge film. My new backlot tour focuses around the new 3-D techniques that Cameron is using in this new film.

The story of this attraction is that Mr. Cameron is making a new sci-fi adventure film and has asked us to come on board as executive producers. He says we will be involved in every aspect of the project. From prep to release. James will be seen on video screens throughout the attraction to give guests more information on the different steps in the film process.

The first stop would pre-production. Here, guests will sit in a small theate and see concept drawings, sculptures, etc. This is where guests meet Mr. Cameron on a video screen. He will explain to them that they are now executive producers and explains the overal plot of the movie he is making. They would also be informed about the importance that pre-production plays in a film. Also, five guests will be selected as actors. Two will play the bad guys; snippers. And the other three will play strange humoniod(spell) aliens. After casting, the audience will vote on which color the alien should be; green, red, or blue. The audience will vote by using buttons located on the arm rests. Once a color is selected, the alien actors will be informed as to how they are supposed to move and behave before the whole group moves onto the next stage.

The guests would then move to the production area. Here audience members are selected to put on preformance capture suits. Then, the audience would act out scenes as directed by a assistant director. The director will explain the performance capture process to guests in betweem scenes. After three scenes, the group moves on.

The third and final stage is another theatre; post production. Here we meet Mr. Cameron again and meet a post production supervisor. Here, see's the actors performance put onto a CG model and see the model animate. Also dialogue is recored and sound and music is added. And finally, the finished product is shown.

This would be a live show/attraction. The finished performance would different everytime and would give guests an inside look into the world of digital filmmaking.

Outside and around the attraction will be pieces from the boneyard. You know, all the cars and things on tram tour. They will but all around with information boards that identify the pieces and tell which movies they are from and some more info about the individual pieces.

I think this attraction would be a great addition to Disney Hollywood Studios. It might be expensive to get James Cameron to do it and to get the production equipment. But this could be a huge attraction that would be a hundred time better then the current backlot.

Pretty nice job you did here. I think it was a good first ride.

this is a great ides... although in reality Avatar belongs to nickolodion- which is already in the Universal Studious park...

No. The James Cameron movie isn't based off of the television series. It's an original sci-fi story that he wrote in the 90's.

what????
so why is there a little boy named AANG in the movie, and a character named ZUKO? (maybe we are talking about two different movies).

in the tv show with Aang, it was called Avatar bc avatar is just an awesome word.
The Avatar movie stitch2008 is talking about is where humans use special aliens as avatars, representations of them, but not actually them. Avatar by James Cameron is named for the meaning of the word avatar.

The Avatar: Last Airbender movie is coming this summer from M. Night Shyamalan and will be called simply "The Last Airbender"

hope this clears that up

and Stitch2008, this sounds like a really awesome show/ride, the only concern I have is those motion capture suits and the program to create the finished project can be very expensive and Disney doesn't seem too big on spending money these days. But if they did something like this, it would be the perfect ride for Studios. You're literally taken into the movie & Hollywood world more than ever.:D:sohappy::D

I like this concept. It's better than the crap that's they call the Backlot Tour nowadays. But I still think that they should just scratch the Backlot and have it be a part of Pixar Place. As a matter of fact, DHS has lost its "behind-the-movies" theme after a while. I think they should just have it be themed after Hollywood and Movies. Like what they are doing with DCA. I'm not saying it should be a clone, but just a step in that direction.

Love the attraction though! It's kind of reminiscent of Universal's "Disaster". Which is a good thing. I would love to ride this.

Hi-ho, Kermit the frog here, since we're probably talking about Florida's backlot, I have an idea. First, we either do away with or relocate Lights, Motors, Action! Then WDI would build what is in this thread. The attraction would go back to its original name: Backstage Studio Tour.

Queue:
The queue of the ride will pretty much stay the same.

Part I:
Once boarding the now repainted (blue, white, and yellow) trams, you take a right into Production Area. Here, you see the remains of extinct Disney attractions and something unusual (or rare)-- the costumes worn by the kids in the old Sing-Along Song videos that Disney made in the late 80s-early 90s. Next, are famous muppets from the Muppet Show, that Dr. Suess show, Fraggle's Rock, Sesame Street, and its international coproductions. Around the bend, you can see the Earful Tower in its comeback of a theme park icon. That means MGM Hat = goodbye.

Part II:
Here is the return of our good old friend, Residential Street. Houses you can see here are from Home Imporvement, Blue's Clues, Spongebob, and The Golden Girls.

Part III:
On New York Street, you can see the fronts of your favorite citiy locations, such as Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium, the Plaza Hotel, and Central Perk. In the distance, there are replicas of the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building.

Part IV:
In the Boneyard, you can see vehicles used in the movies and Lego models of famous Disney characters. Walt Disney's private airplane will be moved here, as well.

Part V:
This part is everyone's favorite, Catastrophe Canyon.

Part VI:
Here is the American Film Institute Showcase and the ride's exit. What do you think of the new backlot overhaul, friends?

We are talking about two different movies. Avatar by James Cameron has nothing to do with the animated television show. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avatar_(film)

Hi-ho, Kermit the frog here, that is true, stitch2008. When the movie was announced to be in production, everyone thought it was going to be based on the Nickelodeon show, but it wasn't. On the contrary, another movie based on the show is currently being made and is due to come out some time soon. The movie's working title is "Avatar: Vital Encounter."

PS, Avatar eventually became the top grossing film of all time at $1,924,744,073, surpassing Titanic's $1,843,201,268. Wow!
