So I was spending the day in the parks and decided to hit the dancing lights on the way out. We were sitting on the Streets of America for an hour when I noticed that they hadn't played the Phineas and Ferb intro yet. I asked one of the light operators and he said they had taken those parts of the show out for this year. I sat there in wonder because that same day I had seen at least 30 Perry shirts in the parks. So you'd think a show with growing popularity and sales they'd want to market as much as possible? Plus wouldn't they have to pay to record new dialog? Why spend money to change something when Disney just loves to keep things the same? Thanks Disney, even when we want things to stay the same they find a way to mess that up too...

They re-recorded the radio spiels this year (to reflect the passing of Jennings Osborne), so I tend to doubt it was an economic decision. Maybe aesthetic? The new voiceovers tend to put more of an emphasis on Mr. Osborne, maybe the idea was the put the spotlight on his memory this year.

well there was that segment where they talked to Wayne and Lanny from prep and landing... So i would assume that replaced it as they have the next Christmas special, while phineas and ferb's was last year. it's also all about pacing and either segment might not work with the pacing this year?

I'm pretty sure they replaced the Phineas and Ferb part with a Prep and Landing bit, anyone confirm this? If it's true then it's not a cutback at all, in fact it's an addition.

Funny how a lot of people think that because something was changed that they liked it was automatically because evil Disney is cutting back.......

Well to be fair, I didn't hear anything about the Prep and Landing segment. I just assumed they cut the Phineas and Ferb segments from the show which given the show's growing popularity (Across the 2nd demention was the 3rd highest tv movie on cable this year) that they would have kept it. I just thought it was weird with Disney's love of not changing things, why would they cut a thing like that?

It's not a cutback when the spiel was re-recorded this year, it's simply a change. I personally can do without the Phineas and Ferb intro.

As others have said, Phineas and Ferb were replaced by Prep and Landing, and the whole radio spiel was re-recorded as well. It's a change, not a cut.

I call that a Plussing. All a matter of preference.

I can totally understand that people like Phineas and Ferb, but I'm kind of glad that it's gone. I think the radio spiels can be annoying enough at times. I'd prefer that they just keep the emphasis on Christmas music and the display, as well as some history about the Osbournes. It just doesn't seem to be the best placement for a shameless plug from a Disney show with a minor connection to the holidays.

Prep and Landing makes a little more sense, although I'm sure some will still be confused by voices that they might not recognize. If you're going to use characters, why not use Mickey and the gang?

Can't wait to see the lights again in about a week! :xmas:

Sorry, i dont like to be "that guy", but that PnF thing was awful and annoying. Not upset it's gone. The snow and dancing lights are fine w/ me. Could do without that horrible version of "jingle bells" too. Yikes that song gives me a headache

This isn't a cut back, just a change to the show. I'm glad to see them gone, I didn't think it fitted at all.

Thank god they are gone! That was incredibly annoying last year, I didn't like it at all.

And in fact, they have added several new things to the lights this year as documented by this site. The angels/globe now dance and the light tunnel was redone as well.

Ok so I am officially announcing this is a change and not a cutback. I just wanted to let other members know of this news since no one else has. Sorry for the wrong choice of words, it's not my fault we don't have a topic edit button. We don't need multiple posts of "well technically", can we just talk the post, please?

This isn't really news, though. I have seen in several trip reports over the last couple weeks that they changed the music to line it up w/ this year's Christmas release. Good riddance. Their obnoxious interruptions with the power going "out" were a real buzz kill.

I was shocked to see this thread. Of all of the Christmas offerings, the Osborne lights had the clearest ADDITIONS this year. They clearly spent a fortune of the upgrades this year.
