Hi, My name is Jeff. I am a new sponsor of WDWMagic and thought I should post a note to introduce myself.

I have been flying hot air balloons since I was 15. I received my pilots license when I turned 16 and have been flying hot air balloons ever since. I am now 47 and have been a pilot for 32 years and still love it.

I started out as a competition pilot and was ranked as one of the top 5 in the country for several years. I have flown corporate balloons for Kellogg's, Buick, Pizza Hut, BBT and others. I spent 6 years as a flight instructor for the FAA. I still am requested as a guest speaker at FAA pilot safety seminars here in Florida. I have spent 18 years flying passengers and have found that my true love is taking people for their first flight in a balloon. I love that I can re-live my first flight each day through their eyes.

Many of you may have flown with me here in the Disney area in the past. I was the Chief Pilot for Orange Blossom Balloons for 8 years. I left them in February of this year because I did not agree with some of their policy's. Mainly that they were focused on the dollars and not the passengers. I believe that this is a once in a lifetime event for most passengers and it should be PERFECT. So Thompson Aire Inc. was borne.

Many of you know how hard it is to start a new business. Especially when you have to invest several hundred thousand dollars in equipment. The balloons are around $55,000 each. My philosophy is get the best and be the best so the money was not as much of a concern as was having the right tools to make things perfect.

If you have flown with me in the past please share your adventure with others on this site since your referral will carry much more weight than if I talk all day. If you have questions about hot air balloons feel free to send me a note. I would be more than happy to answer any questions you may have and guarantee you wont stump me with any questions.

I recently did a video lesson for a website called expertvillage and I will post another note when the video is up on the web. I think it will be about three weeks before it goes up. I will also be posting video on my website soon.

I will also be running a special this year at Christmas where you can purchase a gift certificate at a reduced price that you can use later in the year when you plan a trip to Orlando. I will post the details on that at a later date.

Anyway, Hi, I look forward to questions and comments from all of you.

Jeff

Tell us more about what you offer. Where are you located? How long a ride? For how much? Do you have a website we can visit? This is something I think would be a blast and I know my husband would love.

Hot Air Balloon Flight Program

Here are the details about our flight program. This could be one of the most exciting things you could do while you’re here. "In fact this might be one of the most exciting things you will do in your whole life. Each morning out in the Disney area Thompson Aire offers "Hot air balloon Rides". This is a 3 to 4 hour Hands on adventure that you will remember the rest of your life.

Your Adventure starts at 6 am with a pre flight briefing. Your Pilot will explain how the balloons are inflated, when to get onboard and answer any other questions you may have. We have found that when you know what to expect you can enjoy the flight even more.

Next you will board our vehicles and head out to one of the many launch sites. Launch and landing sites are chosen baised on the direction of the wind that day. Balloons float with the wind (no reverse) so it is a good idea to be headed at a good spot to land. All passengers are invited to join in as the balloons are inflated and come to life.

As you float across the Florida countryside your pilot will point out all of the spectacular sites. Your pilot will vary your altitude from thousands of feet up, to just above the treetops. You might even be able to grab a souvenir pinecone! You will see a wide variety of things from Swamps to Theme parks to Orange Groves and areas absolutely untouched by human hands! Have your camera ready because wildlife is everywhere. We will fly for aproximatly one hour depending on the landing spots.

The Balloon Chase crew will meet us at the landing site where you will participate in the Traditional Champagne toast. Champagne has been A Tradition in ballooning for over 200 years. We will explain how the tradition of champagne and balloons got started.

After the Champagne toast you will be taken back for an "all you can eat Breakfast Buffet". During breakfast each passenger will be awarded a "First Flight Certificate" Signed by your Pilot. The best part of this is that you will be done before the parks are even open so it will not interfear with anything you have planed for the rest of the day.

Thompson Aire balloon flights are flown every morning at 6. You will be done by around 9:30. Reservations are required and all flights are weather permitting. We suggest you choose a day near the start of your trip so you will have other days as backup if the weather is not good on the day you choose.RATES. Adults are $185. Junior Adults (age 10 to 15) are $105 and children 9 and under are FREE with a paying adult. Visit ThompsonAire.com for more details. The FAQ's page is good. Also the About the Aircraft page is very informative. Or call me at 407-421-9322 and I will be happy to answer any questions you have personally.Jeff
