Thanks! However, I don't have access to invite lists? Are those posted somewhere?

And, why not just share the link, if you know where it is? Why all the sneaky sneak?
Isn't this all about transparency? I'd love the full education....
Not sure what rules are about linking-you can find it fairly easily if you try

Oh, fer cryin' out loud, message me please. Please.

All this mysterious talk about which websites to trust. How would
I know?

There are times on this site, and on others, where it seems like it's the same ten
people who all know each other, and talk about each other, and frankly it's
oftentimes impenetrable. This seems to be one of those times.

I have entered in "disney social media", in google, and it links to threads on WDW Magic.

I have entered "disney social media whores" and it links here as well.

Help.

I am far from a conspiracy theorist. And I typically don't think too seriously about a corporation's defense strategy when it comes to negative feedback or criticism on forums or social media platforms like this.

But I will say - I have been a member of this site for years now. And a reader of it years before that. And I have never witnessed the kind of pro-Disney, anti-criticism campaigning that has been occuring just within the last few months. It is almost as if there has been a flood of these individuals within a relatively short period of time. I don't presume to know what has prompted this. Perhaps Disney acknowledges that certain members on here have connections and may leak information (a lot is happening after all), so they wish to badger and attempt to drive them out of certain websites and forums. Or it could be something as simple as a group(?) of cast members going rogue and wanting to defend their new employer.

Whatever it is...it seems very fishy and convenient. We have always had the occasional jt, or bulls, etc. But this is becoming a bit overwhelming. There seems to be very intentional distraction from topics, and very abrasive reactions and comments toward very certain individuals who not only give us a lot of the information we discuss, but also question the corporate strategy and culture of Disney. Just sayin...

If I type Disney Watermelon Spelunking on this thread, after a while Google will index it and it will link back to this thread when searching for Disney Watermelon Spelunking.

So Goggling disney social media whores and a Google search leads back to this thread means absolutely nothing.

I think I am just slow. I don't get this at all. Seems like a lot of venom for a page with some pictures on it. I guess I don't understand the reason I/we should care.

It's all part of a much larger problem.

The big problem is that bloggers, and some well known Disney themed social media sites (maintained by people who are supposed to be independant and unbiased) are being given special or preferential treatment by 'sucking up' to Disney, and those who post truly unbiased reviews of their products find themselves on the outside looking in more often than not. So while they may not be directly on Disneys payroll, they are still being reimbursed in some form ... in any case I find it to be at the very least unethical, however sadly not surprising.

OK. That makes some sense. So basically the issue is that bloggers and social media site owners are either being paid directly by Disney and/or being given perks by the company. I guess my only question is how is this unethical? These people are in some cases making their living doing this. Unless they are putting themselves out there as being unbiased members of the media I don't see the problem. If a newspaper editor or some executive at CNN is being paid and/or given perks to spin a story then there would be an ethical problem. What is the difference between a celebrity being paid to say "I just won the Super Bowl and now I'm going to Disney World" and a social media site owner getting a free room or free meals for providing positive press for the company. I can see why bloggers who got shut out of functions for being overly critical would be unhappy, but I don't see how that's unethical on the part of Disney.

It amazes me that some on this forum seem to do nothing but take pot-shots at members like '74 and the other insiders and accuse them of being liars or having an agenda or not knowing what they're talking about. If they annoy you so much or you choose not to believe the information or opinions they provide then hit the ignore button, it really is a simple solution to all of your grievances.

This truly would be both a simple and effective solution.

Unfortunately, the people who would most benefit by taking advantage of the ignore feature are also those who are least likely to do so.

These posters are typified by their extreme (and utterly unfounded) paranoia, and spend seemingly all their time obsessing about what certain other members are saying and doing. People who are so excessively preoccupied with what others say and do have likely convinced themselves that the minute they put someone on ignore, that person is going to start talking about them -- which is ironic, as the obsession is decidedly non-reciprocal.

These paranoid few can't handle the thought of not being able to monitor the objects of their obsession every minute of the day -- and so they will never, ever use the ignore feature.

I am all for making a living in this day and age, believe me, I am a freelance producer, but you hit it ... they are putting themselves out their as being independants, which is the real issue most have with Disney's use of "independant" social media.

What is so unethical about it? Anyone can run there website/blog the way they feel fit. Those other sites/blogs state they are Disney fan sites and nothing more. If they are given perks from Disney to cover topics the mouse wants covered so be it, as it is there website/blog.

Fair enough. I am not familiar with all of the sites out there. The ones I know of I consider to be "fan sites" which almost always have positive spins. In my experience the vast majority of bloggers (Disney and non-Disney) have an agenda and are not unbiased. Which bloggers and/or sites are we talking about here?

If they are upfront about it I have no beef with them, but thats just it, they don't disclose it, and in most cases deny it when it has been proven otherwise.
