Monorail Extensions

Does anyone here think Disney will ever make more monorails? Such as extending to MGM Studios or to more resorts?

If they did that it would be fantastic. :)

Not going to happen any time within the next 10 years.

Do a search for monorail extension, there are a lot of threads on this, and every single one is Tyler posting why it isn't feasible.

That would be cool!

The last line they built was for the one that takes all the money to Eisner's house each night after the parks close.

Not going to happen for a long long time, would be nice though. However, proposed monorail routes are on the master plans I belive. Do a topic search, this has been discussed lots.

It's just too cost prohibitive right now.

It would be nice, and maybe eventually it could happen, but not for the forseeable future.

Im worn out from a very lengthy and heated debate on this very topic on another board. Suffice to say... Not gonna happen. Not in our lifetimes.

A monorail expansion plan was established with the seven gate scenario study but more beamway won't be needed until then.

In other words there won't be major monorail expansion until there is approval for the third post-AK park, so don't expect it to happen during the next several decades.

There are several proposals i nthe orlando area for the high speed rail system. they may have a tack from the airport to disney property. there are also proposals that run down I-drive etc. Disney of course prefers their own proposal. If this is done then they may start developing transporation systems within the resort. At least I'm thinking

Here's one thing about the supposed high speed rail... Hypothetically... there's a part that goes from the Airport to Disney. Being a High Speed Rail, it's only going to be able to make one stop at Disney. From there, guests will still need to transfer to a bus, van, or other vehicle to get to thier resort. Not really as convenient as first thought.

I think eventually it will happen. But I think we need to get younger or diffrent executives in there. back in the 80's michael eisner did some good things, but now I think he is tapped out. he is a very good investment person and business man on the business side of things. and I think if war breaks out he will keep disney a float till after the war. i think things started to get bad befor september 11th then after they had a problem with their high investors and had to do some minor things. I don't forsee anything happening too much for the next 10 years, but I think disney financially is positioning themselves for what could be a very big war with iraq, and after wards I don't forsee eisner staying too long after that, and with a fresh face in the head position things will start to rise. after all it is a business, and it has to make money, but right now there is no light at the end of the tunnel for the travel industry. But after the war and soldiers come home your going to see a rise in families, maybe another baby boom, and they are going to want to go places and do things with their families and I think disney will be right there to meet the challenge, and when people start comming back to the park and everything in the world is good again, then disney may put major projects back online. I don't like to see park hours cut and things closing seasonally, but I think disney is in a better position then most other amusement park companies.
