Party time!!
There were just a few people in front of me at the tapstiles and I was in!
You can see it was a bit dreary and was sprinkling when I came in. I followed the sign to the path to get my bag and see some ghosts!
I walked by the gravediggers but didn't want to wait in line.
This guy was pretty funny!
And of course this fabulous ghost.
I just love Mickey pumpkins so much!
Yay! I'm here!! Now let's go ride some rides!
I wanted to go to Big Thunder first but it was down so I started at Jungle Cruise, which didn't have much of a wait. The skipper, whose name I did not get, was great. She had some pretty good jokes I hadn't heard before. There was a family with a baby, maybe a year old. That baby was not having this ride. She explained as we left that she could not move until EVERYONE was seated and we left the dock.
Just a few minutes later she had to stop. She explained to the family that EVERYONE needed to be sitting down, so we moved again. This went on until maybe the 5th time we had to stop and she pantomimed sitting on your pockets

. The baby was not happy but we didn't have to stop any extra. She was able to do all the explaining comically and no one was upset (except the baby).
After that I went over to Pirates, which was basically a walk on since it has such a long queue. While in line I mobile ordered a kids cheeseburger and fries to pick up before Pecos Bills closed. I had read so many times to make sure you eat some real food before the party starts, and I am glad I did!
Apparently I did not take any pictures during this portion of the afternoon! I was not thinking about the TR!
Had a nice ride with drunk pirates and checked in to pick up my mobile order. I think I waited 10 min in an empty restaurant. I can understand the wait when things are busy, but it was just about closing time for day guests and it was not busy at all.
The cheeseburger, fries, and cutie hit the spot!
I knew after this it would pretty much be go time so I didn't mind a few minutes to sit. The weather was kind of iffy later so I had a plan to make sure I saw what I could while it was dry.
BUT FIRST Big Thunder Mountain Railroad.
When I visited in June with my nephew it was open again post refurb but C was too nervous to ride so I didn't get to experience it.
I got in line just as the park closed and they were checking for wristbands. The line was at the sign where you enter the line but it was pretty much continuously moving. I enjoyed looking at the construction areas.
Seeing this helped me realize just how big Piston Peak (and I guess Villains land) will be! The construction wraps way around the back on Big Thunder.
When it was time to load I was put in the front row. Not my favorite spot but that's ok. They checked the lap bars and then we sat. And sat. The ride operator picked up the phone and made some funny faces. I didn't look very good.
It was probably only a few minutes later the track in front of the train moved and we were ready to go!
To be honest, if I didn't know it was down for a long time I probably wouldn't have noticed the changes. The new seats are nice and the colors in the cavern are pretty. The biggest thing I noticed was the giant gold nugget. The light/sound comes on a tad late for the front row to see.
This timing worked out perfect because I had a plan to see some Chipmunks!
