MNSSHP Costume - WDW Ideas

So I've been trying to plan my MNSSHP and have been running into some problems. Here are my guidelines:

1. Must be a WDW attraction or land
2. Has to total under $120
3. Can't be too DIY -- can put together multiple pieces, but I won't have time/patience/skill to make anything
4. Available in plus size

I have some contenders but wanted to get some feedback from you guys. Here are my ideas and the problems I came up with:

- Tiki Room costume. This dress and a stuffed bird to hold with me all night. Also open to other ideas around this dress. problem: not sure if anyone would put two and two together and understand my costume!

- Spaceship Earth costume. This dress from Etsy along with a pair of Spaceship Earth Minnie ears which I can (hopefully) easily buy in WDW. problem: dress seems a little short, and a little revealing (not on the main photo, but when I looked at people's photos in the reviews)

- Figment! Found this shirt on Etsy. Could pair with a lilac skirt, and do pigtails instead of horns. problem: hard finding a good plus sized skirt that this t-shirt can tuck into. It also has Figment's wings in the back, making it impossible to ever wear this shirt outside of a costume. Other shirts I found just look too plain. Least favorite costume out of the 3 I've looked at.

Haven't been able to come up with anything else, so any suggestions/ideas would be appreciated! Again, so far the tiki room dress is my favorite, but can't think of any more ideas to make it obvious.

Side note -- boyfriend is going as John from CoP!

I always wanted to do the HM stretching room portrait- there is a skirt on Etsy for 25.00. Ballet flats and the top would be pretty easy, a body suit and maybe some pink puffed material around the arms. You can just add some elastic. We did Carl and Ellie, I made Cap Jack for my son - that even if I did make I think it turned out pretty good. I am a total DIY person though. I did Tink for My D in Law and jack the monkey for grandson. And we got rained out! :(

and Cap’n Jack I made. Everybody on PotC went nuts. Then the rain started and it was a bust. 😑

My daughter has the Spaceship earth dressit is not at all short, the belt is little bit large , but you can always poke more holes. It is really cute with the ears. I would post a pic but she did not have make up on when it was taken and she won't let me. Another cute idea would be the Beauty and the Beast Chip dress that is currently on sale really cheap just be aware it runs BIG. Also there is a site called Redbubble that has some Adorable IASW shirts as well as dresses that are themed to the ride and they do have IASW ears currently on sale at Shop Disney.

Be glad for the rain. I've gone in a captain Jack costume before and thought I was going to die from the heat.... Although I think that year we were their late September... and I was an idiot and also included the proper coat.

Note to everyone, it is Florida and it doesn't ever get cold or even moderately cool during the Halloween party, so don't make my mistake and wear multiple layers.... I know the temptation will sometimes get you... I've made the mistake more than once and usually ended up without half the costume on before the night was done.... which brings up another point, if you think your costume is going to cook you take a bag to carry the parts you'll be shedding which is also good for carrying your kids costumes that they will probably shed even faster than you will as they will quickly realize they get candy whether they are wearing a costume or not.

This was our second trip, dressed up and his second time as Cap Jack in September. The heat doesn’t bother us the rain out did. He wore it the whole time from 4:00 til closing at midnight, the year first time. Some people can handle the heat. I couldn’t, I was in shorts as Ellie. He rocked it though, all night.

Thank you! I'll check it out!! I think you're talking about the Spaceship Earth dress on the Disney site though right? The one I linked to was one from Etsy, so it's a little different from the one on the site.
I'll check out Redbubble now :)

Wear running shorts under the SSE dress. That dress shows up at runDisney races frequently.

BTW, I love the Figment idea. Simple, won't be too hot and cute as can be.

That's what I plan on wearing! I'm obsessed with the Dress Shop dresses (when I can get them on sale) and want them all. The Chip/Mrs Potts one I got in the recent sale. After a few years of Dreamfinder (too hot for a 3 piece suit!) I'm gonna go the "cosplay" dress route for the rest of my parties

Thanks!! That's a good idea for that one! I don't know why I didn't think of that, haha. And thank you :) I just need to find the right skirt for Figment!

There are four of us going in September and the wife and I are trying to convince the other two to dress up. We are thinking of becoming the crew from Inside/Out. The costumes are rather simple, light and the characters are fun.

Last year I went as Figment.
I had a purple sequin running skirt over some bike shorts, a yellow and orange tie dye shirt, and a Disney parks hat that said Figment and had little orange wings on it.
I spent $26 on the hat from Ebay, $13 on the shirt from Amazon, $10 on the running skirt from Amazon, and $10 on bike shorts from Walmart.
My sister did the same thing with different colors and went as Ariel. She wore a fork in her hair and I had a stuffed Flounder for her to carry around.

We went all out the first couple of years and going in late August does not make for a fun time in a full on Halloween costume.

Hah I could imagine the heat would be unbearable in August for a full costume. Thanks for the ideas --what you did sounds super cute!
