The A's missed a chance to open things up more in the 7th, loading the bases with 1 out. Now Rondell White has homered for the Twins, making it 2-1.

A Twins rally comes up short in the 9th, and the A's hold on 3-2. Bit of a surprise to open the playoffs.

No Twins sweep, so now six people (including myself) will look for Minnesota to win 3 straight to get credit for the series and the bonus.

Cards and Pads will open up their series in about half an hour.

A pitchers' duel so far in San Diego, no score in the 3rd.

This series was just about an even split in the picks. Six people took the Padres, and four picked the Cardinals. Nobody picked a sweep here, so whatever happens today, everyone will still be alive for the series and the bonus.

Jake Peavy is gone in the 6th, after giving up 11 hits and 5 runs to the Cardinals. Looks like another road team could come up with a win today.

Now for the nightcap...Tiggers and Yanks.

New York was the pick for 8 of 10 people in this series. GenerationX was the only person to pick a sweep (Yankees), while most of us see it taking a while. Six people pick this series to go the full 5 games.

What a night for Jeter. The Yankee captain goes 5-for-5 and the Bombers take the opener 8-4.

Until tomorrow

A pair of homers to lead off the 6th, and the Twins have tied Game 2, 2-2. Everybody has the Twins winning this series, and some have them going further. They dont need to go to the West Coast down 2-0 if that's going to happen.

It's going to be 2-0 A's heading to Oakland, after a 5-2 win in the Dome.

If the Twins lose this series, it doesn't hurt anyone as far as the first round is concerned, since nobody picked Oakland. The folks who picked the Twins to win the pennant or the ring are in a big hole, though.

I'm stunned.

You're not the only one. Five people have Minnesota taking the whole thing.

A pair of solo shots in the 4th have the Mets in front of the Dodgers 2-1. Seven people picked the Mets here, with one pick of a sweep, from James. It'll be interesting to see how far they get with two of their best starting pitchers out for the playoffs.

I'm really surprised about Oakland. I always thought they were really bad this year. It seemed like every time I turned on the TV I'd see something about them losing. Oh well...

BTW, finally, a year without a baseball team that hasn't won a world series in a century.

They won 93 games. Maybe you just weren't watching enough TV. ;)
