I went last summer. As we walked up to the restaurant, my friend looked at the restaurant, looked at me, looked around to the Brown Derby and said, "I think I booked the wrong restaurant". When we walked in, I was ready to retrace my steps out and go somewhere else. But we wanted the Fantasmic package, so we stayed.

The restaurant was dirty - food on the floors, some tables with dirty dishes left there.... it was late, so I get that with families with small children things happen and food will hit the floor. But, blech.

The selections were ok - nothing I was excited over, and nothing I said, 'let me go get more of that'. Since it was late, some of the stations looked like they were at the tail end of availability. But, there was enough food to choose from.

All in all, wasn't the worst experience I have had on Disney property. Was somewhere in the lower third.

This was before the advent of Minnie and friends hosting the meal, so it may have changed somewhat.

Only you can decide if it is worth it - look at the menu selections and see if this is what would interest you. Do you want a character meal? How do you like buffets vs table serve? There are better options for both in my opinion, but it might be something you are ok with....

We did this in November when is was Minnie's Holiday Dine. We loved it! We had a 5 pm reservation & were seated within 10 minutes. Each character came to our table twice. My 4 year old loved their holiday outfits. Food was delicious & plentiful. Lots of variety that pleased even our pickiest eater. Everything from tables to floors to bathrooms were clean. We were on the dining plan but would do it again & pay for it oop. It ended up being one of favorite meals of the trip.

Edited to add: we did not do the Fantasmic package. Just a regular diner reservation.

We booked the Fantasmic package online as it was the only way to book Minnie's Holiday Dine at that moment, but revised it to regular dining once we got to the podium. It was great. The characters came to our table twice, just as @smi727 had happen, and the food was very, very good (which considering Hollywood & Vine's normal reviews led me to believe they'd either done a major menu overhaul or just upped their game, because we were not expecting decent food, and we really enjoyed everything we ate). My friend and I wouldn't hesitate to book it again, and are in fact considering it for October when we are down for Food & Wine.
