Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway SPOILER Thread

God, wouldn't it be great if they replace the horrific Picasso-like Mickey and Minnie heads in the WDW version with 3D heads? I haven't experienced the WDW ride myself, I've just seen videos, but a friend of mine rode MMRR and said the Mickey & Minnie heads are awful. They look flat and the muzzle parts of the heads aren't lit like the rest of the heads and it looks bizarre. I mean, what the heck? The first Mickey Mouse dark ride ever, and somehow the "Imagineers" manage to eff it up.

Hey, Imagineers...what were you thinking? Yes, the excellent new Mickey Mouse cartoons are 2D...but in the cartoon world he lives in, Mickey's head is still 3D! When he turns his head, it isn't flat - it's round! From all angles! So what was the deal with making it flat????
I know they were trying to go for a "2D.5" look, but it really did not work with this art style.

Yeah I feel like he could point to a variety of things as “enhancements” when they’re really just differences. He’s invested in the success of the DL version so I don’t blame him, but there’s no guarantee it’ll have any actual improvements, although that’ll be cool if it does.

I don’t understand why anyone would be mad if they made improvements, we’re dealing with theme parks across the country, not sports teams.
I think people are just upset that DHS has very little uniqueness.

CA has versions of Star Tours, Rise of the Resistance, Smugglers run, Toy Story Mania, a different skin on Alien, a similar ride to TOT and now an "enhanced" MMRR
Ride wise that leaves just Rock and rollercoaster and Slinky dog dash as the only ones that don't have a similar ride on the west coast. Both are good rides, but not really unique in the world of theme parks. (RNRC actually has 2 clones with the exact same layout).

I can see people that go to both resorts wanting a little uniqueness outside of 30 year old shows at DHS.

Finally, people are upset because DHS with a huge amount of land around it, axed it's most unique ride for MMRR. Meanwhile in landlocked Disneyland, they managed to fit in the ride without removing anything major.

There is very little reason to visit DHS if you are a Disneyland native. I only want to visit in the future cause I haven't experienced Galaxy's Edge, if that wasn't the case it would be a skip for me.

What’s with Disney butchering puns for waterslide names?! AquaDuck was a clever pun which fit the shape of the slide, AquaMouse feels like a new marketing team came in that doesn’t get it. Their last waterslide was supposed to be named Miss Fortune Falls but then they changed it to Miss Adventure Falls. Sorry for the rant, I just need to stand up for the puns.

Okay but back to Runaway Railway (a decent name, also a tongue twister).

What’s wrong with Miss Adventure Falls? It works on the same level as Miss Fortune

"Misadventure" gets over 21 Billion hits on Google. "Misfortune" only 3 times as much.
I don’t know where you’re looking, google trends shows it’s more like 5-6 times as many, which is still lower than I expected. In my state it’s much lower, and I’ve never heard once heard this word. But even if it were only 3… why change the name to something 3 times worse?

Look, in many states this word does not exist:

Misfortune is a word people commonly use, but I can’t recall ever hearing someone say “misadventure” even though it’s technically a word. Perhaps you have? I think it just falls flat.
Sure I hear it used. “Today we had such a misadventure when my car broke down” etc. I guess misfortune is more commonly used but misadventure isn’t exactly out of the ordinary.

You guys still have the original TOT, that’s enough reason alone for me. Not to mention Rock n Roller coaster and Slinky Dog dash. Although I imagine Toy Story land would be a one and done type thing for me. To your point though, the only thing that would keep me coming back is TOT.

It's crazy how fast times change as my late 2016 visit there was no reason to visit DSH so we skipped it.
In our recent December visit I was actually excited to visit, since TOT is gone at DCA. MMRR & TSL would be new.
RNRC being unique makes it a pretty special ride too.

With TSL being kind of meh and now both MMRR & RISE will be back home on the west coast, it does make me wonder if I'll be as excited on my next visit. But as you said, there's TOT....

The Great Movie Ride was a 1st choice family favorite on our annual WDW trips—especially wonderful after a busy, long day. You just sit in comfort and let those wonderful old movies wash around you. Can’t believe it’s gone! Not happy with FastPass and resort changes either. Not planning to return unless more guest-friendly changes are made.
