I literally don't understand how this is happening or how it will even work with queues and crowds.. but the entrance is said to be the gag factory store. From what I've heard, the former gag factory is not the exit gift shop, it's literally the theater entrance. The show building is much larger and will hold a longer indoor queue compared to Orlando.

I really think that the Five and Dime is the entrance, because the Gag Factory entrance is in a rather cramped area, which would be extremely bad for crowds. At the very least, the Five and Dime is sticking out into the middle of an open area, allowing for a little more wiggle room for crowds.

Is there any info out there about how the Disneyland version might differ from the Studios version? I can't really see the preshow where you step through the movie screen translating so well to Toontown since you are already in the Tooniverse, but it is such a neat gag it seems they may still go with that especially since you're entering a theater in Toontown.

I hope they have something similar at least. When I was in Florida they didn't have the pre-show going thanks to Covid..

The pre show isn’t going anywhere. As you mentioned the facade is a theatre. If they were going to get rid of it they would have made the facade a train station. It’ll translate fine because you re still being transported from one location to another. You are going from a movie theatre through a screen and into a Train station. Whether it’s Toon world to Toon world, human to Toon or even human to human. It’s still a neat story telling device. With that said, I do prefer the approach at DHS. I’m interested to see what they do with the large indoor queue. I’d have to imagine it’ll be the best indoor queue at DLR since Indy. I’m not that impressed with ROTRs indoor queue aside from Becks ship (which I don’t really consider the queue) and the hangar which has its issues with with the Stormtrooper mannequins and last about 2.5 seconds.

You bring up a really interesting point I didn't think of before where at DHS you're stepping into a cartoon whereas in Toontown you're presumably already in the cartoon world, so the gag is mores like a cartoon cut scene (replete with a change in animation style). I like DHS' version more, though.

I agree there is definitely something cooler about transitioning from the human world to the toon world but the gag still works either way. And we didn’t lose anything for this ride. Except possibly, wait for it, the GAG factory. The Good Ol Factory, left us with one last Gag.

The Gag Factory/Five&Dime entrances are the exact same building, right.....? One side is the gag factory facade and the opposite side is Five&Dime..

So I don't think one is going to be an entrance and the other an exit considering they're the same building and the concept art just shows one giant theater entrance.

Yes, it is one big store with two names, though I think Five and Dime was basically the part that jutted out as the theming changed quickly to Gag Factory as you got further into the store. You can find 360 degree images of the inside of the store on Google Maps.

This is how it was. The entrances at the black arrows.

They could just bisect the space and make the left side the queue and the right side the exit retaining a smaller store.

I find it hard to believe Chapek would greenlight the complete removal of the only store in the land while the concept of the "exit through a store" concept can be easily obtained.

I really think that the entrance will be the Five and Dime side, which is a little more open than the Gag Factory side. The Gag Factory side would be a crowding nightmare if they entered in that way.

This is what I think will happen. Gag factory remains as the exit store and the theater facade ( needing a bigger footprint) goes where the Five and Dine facility once stood.

I think the gag factory will get a refreshed facade as the giant faux metal door and large tube prob have been carefully removed.

What's more, I think the entrance being where the Five and Dime was will help at least a little with lines being out the door, because it sticks out into the open, allowing for a little extra legroom, whereas the Gag Factory entrance is in a relatively tight space, which would be a crowd nightmare if it went there. Look at the Roger Rabbit ride entrance, which is also out in the open with nothing in the way except a fountain (and stroller parking). There is often a line out the door there.

Testing and adjusting for brand new attractions involves cross training attractions CMs to work with Imagineering to basically start cycling the attraction. The attraction CMs are the helpers and pioneers for creating the attractions operating guide. Basically, they work all the kinks out with imagineering, dispatching vehicles and cycling while the artists get everything programmed. The test and adjust CMs become leads/trainers when imagineering hands the attraction off to ops (when the ride opens to the public).

CMs are currently submitting applications to join the test and adjust crew for Mickey's.

Usually the first few months of T&A involves wearing hard hats and supervising the construction site doors walkways until the ride is built enough to start cycling.

Site that must not be named has pictures of construction starting on the new fake hills that will hide the showbuilding.

Anyway thanks for sharing. The hills used to be tucked back considerably further right? Or maybe it was just a little further back. Either way, I wonder how that effects the illusion of depth and forced perspective (if there was any of that to begin with).
