Mickey’s Xmas Party Strategies

Now that Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party has been announced for November and December, I am trying to plan around it for our upcoming December Trip.

Whilst it was pleasing to see a price drop from last year’s event, the change in operating hours is going to cause a few issues in my opinion.

If I understand correctly Magic Kingdom will now close at 6pm on the nights the Party is being held. This means the only way to see the fireworks or night time entertainment on those days is to pay the extra ticket price. I think the knock on effect is that the nights where there is no party, the crowds at MK will be massive. Considering the party is basically every second day, those non party days are going to come under significant crowd pressures IMHO.

So whilst I will be attending one Party, I am thinking that I want to completely avoid the MK on the days the parties are not being held.

Keen to hear everyone’s thoughts.

My DW and I will be there from 12/8-12/15…she’s buying the party for our second night 12/9…from what we read, the park will close to regular guests at 7, and the park will be open until midnight. The good thing is that it’s going back to the original party (unlike last year when it was somewhat abbreviated). Enjoy!!!

With the party being an hour earlier this year, I thought that may have changed visitors behaviour. Previously with the party starting at 8, the non-party goers got to enjoy some night time entertainment including the fireworks. This won’t be the case this year.

Do the online bookings open at midnight eastern time on the 30th for resort guests?

Just a question...
Does a guest have to have a park ticket and reservation for either of the parties? Or can a guests buy a ticket to the party and be all set?

Where does one go to buy online?

My understanding is the booking window opens for resort guests in a few hours but I can’t seem to find anywhere online that indicates this is the page where the tickets are sold. Sorry for the basic question but it’s been a while since I have purchased an event ticket.

Does anyone know if they typically have the same cap for each of the events, except for maybe the first one if working out bugs? I'm considering whether to go for the second or third party based on my trip dates. I sort of expect them all to be mobbed, so if they'll all be equally crowded I'll party on Friday and spend more of thursday in parks with shorter lines.

The MVMCP has always started at 7 pm.

“After-hours” events started later but that is a completely different event.

Me again!

Just trying to plan some strategies for days we are not going to the party. I am trying to schedule visits to the MK on days the party is happening because I feel a lot of people will not want to do MK on that day due to the early closure time.

Can I confirm that MK park entry closes at 6pm for non ticket holders but if you are already in the park you can continue to ride until 7pm? If you can ride until 7pm will Genie +/- continue to work until 7pm?

Thanks

No. 6 pm is the cutoff for day guests. If you do not have a wristband for the party, you are not allowed to enter an attraction line after 6 PM. They start emptying out the park For those who do not have a wristband to stay after close. People are gently escorted to the front/Main Street area.

I will say as a frequent regular park guest, but also having purchased party tickets many times, I do appreciate their efforts to empty out the park for those who actually paid a premium price to attend. For the price paid, it’s only fair.

Thanks for the respone, just trying to get an understanding of what is and isn't possible as I can't find anything definitive on official sources
