As for the 100 yrs stuff inside the hat, that will lose its novelty. Someone posted an idea of a fantasmic gift shop for the hat earlier. Thats a great idea, the sorcerers hat fits the idea of fantasmic. They should put it in the entryway to fantasmic at about half way where there is a large open space.
Thats the best idea :slurp:

I hope they keep the hat, along with whatever is in there. I wanted to go for the party, but my girlfriend works all the way untill December 28, we can only go in January.

You're in luck. Disney is planning to extend the party 2-3 extra months. :)

I will warn you, things look dim for the Chinese Theater and the Great Movie Ride. It may have an end as sad as Horizons.

Actually it is The Magic Kingdom part of the Walt Disney World Resort, it's really called Walt Disney's World ( but the 's is left off) . Walts brother Roy renamed the park in tribute to his brothers dream on his death bed in 1966. Roy took on the project after Walts death and before he took his retirment in 1971.

Roy died Dec 21 1971 ,two months after the WDW resort opened.

As for EPCOT ,it changed alot before it was built , first it was a planned city(you can see the model when you ride TTA in Tomorrowland at MK).It later became a worlds fair design which is what we see today. Now "Celebration" located in Kissimiee is a new adaptation of what EPCOT was planned to be without the "Buck Rogers /Tomorrowland "look .

The first name of the Florida Project was Disney World. That is what Walt was going to call it. Roy did change it to Walt Disney World though. And to add to EPCOT, it stands for Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow. Now, that's hard to remember, even Walt himself made a mistake (he said city instead of community once). That's why he called it EPCOT. When the park was built, It was named EPCOT Center. And in 1996 the park became known as Epcot.

OK, some of you people need some serious boning up on your history. Disney World's original name was "Project X" because Walt didn't want people to know that he had his eyes set on Florida to keep land prices down.

EPCOT was always supposed to be a part of Disney World. It just wasn't supposed to be a theme park. It was supposed to be a self-sufficient planned community. When Walt died, that idea was scrapped in favor of what is currently the Epcot theme park.

And let's leave the poor "Magic Kingdom is Disney World" folks alone. From 1971 to 1981, the Magic Kingdom WAS Disney World, and not everyone is as fortunate as us to have kept up with the times.

By the way (I never answered the topic of the forum) I think that the best place for the hat would be on top of the Earffel Tower (if they could pull it off). I know this will never happen but I think it would look really cool.

And that's why Epcot's name changed from EPCOT (all caps) to Epcot! It's not the Experimental Prototype Community of Tommorow anymore...it's "Disney's Discovery Park"!

you KNOW who the signs are for, don't you? Granted I like them, they are for the morons who think the Magic Kingdom is "Disney World" and "those other parks" are something else. By attaching the signs to something related to Mickey, maybe they will realize that disney world has FOUR parks!

i agree with you... most people when they hear disney world think "magic kingdom" and personally thats not my favorite, epcot is.. and i think the wand looks very nice at night thank you... and that hat looks totally cool at night!! :D

The Hat is awesome at night, but it is cool during the day too.
EPCOT originally was planned like many of you said to be a community. But now its Epcot. There is a difference ther
:hammer:

As for the wand, scrap it, the geosphere looked better without it.

The hat is cool. I just wonder, having heard rumors for some time about an update (or some have even said replacement) of the Great Movie Ride, if the hat would be left as a distraction during any construction that would be done.

the hat needs to (will) stay, the banners need to stay, and the Magical Moments Pins need to stay (I don't see disney trashing all the sensors on the rides, regardless...I mean, they get $15 for each one of the pins, and they'd get to issue new ones once 100 Years of Magic ends, anyway). I do hope we get a Fantasmic! store with more Fantasmic! merchandise, though...maybe they could change the sign to just say "The Fantasmic Shop!" instead of "Walt Disney Studios Florida"...either way...I'll be a supporter:)

DogsRule, you're absolutely right about who those signs are for. I am sorry to say that my brother and his wife went to Universal last summer, and simply couldn't understand why they never saw Mickey Mouse - after all, they were at Disney weren't they? Unbelievable.

I think moving it to a place in the backlot that the trams can travel under it or maybe place it on the roof of the animation building at MGM.
